A leading ayatollah of Iran’s Islamic regime is promising that Western leaders will be executed by the Islamic messiah, the state-owned media outlet Mehr news reported Saturday.
“When Imam Zaman ['Mahdi,' the last Shiite Imam] comes, he will behead the Western leaders,” warned Ayatollah Mohammad Emami Kashani, the interim Friday prayer leader of Tehran and a member of the Assembly of Experts, the body that chooses the supreme leader. “However, Imam will not harm the oppressed nations,” he said.

Sanctions? That's a total joke given the energy resources available within the Russian homeland, not to mention ties to Iran. "Diminish" Russian relevance on the world stage? Hardly, particularly when they are backed by another nuclear power in the Chinese who hold an astounding amount of US debt. As for the justification being the ability of the people of Ukraine to govern themselves, I have to wonder if the implied model isn't that of the hijacked US "democracy". I'm sure the powers that be would love another western puppet, but it should be clear to all involved that the Russians are not about to let that happen in their own back yard.
