DH I'm glad you partially agree with me.I always think you have good advice. But I dont think waiting a week make any difference if there is something serious going on.If it is just limping and no other symptoms. Is the pup eatting normal? Is the stool normal? And when you examine the leg that is in question does the pup whine or cry out when you manipulate it? maybe then I would go to the Vet right away. But just to favor a leg for a few days does not make me panic. Just my opinion and observation with my group. I certainly would not with hold medical attention when it called for it. However I think sometimes we jump the gun.Far to many times Ive gone and come home with no answers.

I would not wait a week, there could be a small fracture that is causing him to limp, and walking doesnt aggravate right away but a trot with hard pressure would. Don't wait a week and take the chance with having a possible fracture, that can easily cause a huge problem down the road. Better to go to the vet and get an xray and give you peace of mind, even if its a sprain and the vet recommends rest, better to be safe than sorry. Also I agree100% with D.H. on the food and treats. Good Luck to you and your pup!

Hey guys i got back from the vet and the hip and elbow x rays are fine. The vet said that its a minor sprain and that i should keep him quiet. No running just short walks. Thanks so much for all the advise and support. Thanks DH for the advise on food. I will change it right away. I was telling someone about my puppy's limp and she suggested that i supplement the puppy with glucosamin. Has anyone used this. Should i take her advise? Thanks again

Maverick13-- I emailed you at the end of July, advising you to supplement your puppy with Cosequin DS. Feel bad that you didn't receive it. Check out the 'Puppy Ears' thread in 'user sent messages' when you hit 'Maverick13'. The dosage for gluc-chon (Cosequin) is there. It might also help somewhat with your cowhock problem by strengthening--with the addition of Ester-C. Realistically, cowhocks don't go away, but can be somewhat modified with the tightening of muscles and ligaments. (I saw your question in the 'loose ligaments' thread.) If Cosequin DS is too pricey, get a human equivalent, cheaper dosage---but, I would supplement. Good luck.
