Duke as the expression goes : "the new normal ". I have has this conversdastion manyn tomes withnthe most prominent breeders of the GS in the whole world . My first GS at the end of the 1960's was a can do all . He was a tough mother !! Yet went every where and tolerated people , unless they were going to arm me and I swear that dog would go through a glass window to protect me . I could go to the supermarket on the busy city street and leave him outside and when I came out of the grocery store he was still there . He could track well to and find us. One day , 3 hours after I left for school, which was 1.5 miles from home he accidently got out of the house. He had tracked me . My mother got a call from the school to come get the dog. We never taught this dog to track our us or find us and he had never eveer been to that school. This dog had all the insticts a GS cpuld have- he was an all can do dog. One day he did rightly so engage a person and bit that person !! City streets were tough and so was the neighborhood ! Again many times I had conversations w ith the elite in the GS world talking about the vast change in the GS and how many instincts , predispostiioned innate traits have either been diluted or lost . How the GS todaynlaccks what I had back in the late 60's . BTW , my GS was the progeny of an accomplished S from Germany back then, a very accomplished GS in Germany for that time. One of the renowned person said to me " Centurian , shi** happens and there is nothing that you can do about it People are going to do [ meaning breed ] the way they want to .
I had the same conversation with a person who stayed in my house with me for a week and he was the one who trained Bernd and Bodo Lieberg . Same conversation about how the GS changed and about the innate genetics. So I am saying to you that I am very very well aware of the GS dog in the past and also it's state presently . I know for sure what an all round , can do all , GS was and is. Back then that was the normal state of te GS , unfortunately my friends told me in not so many words that shi** happens and that I will not be able to do anything about it. Duke you do not know me , if anyone knows about genetics , temperament , traits and the GS dog etc on this PDB , be assured that I most certainly do . I , well , very well , more that you would possibly ref GSs bred dfinartely are not the sameas 50 years ago , 30 years ,not even 20 and 10 years ago. So I meant what I said about admiring people that breed to retain the innate natural instincts fo the GS . On the other hand I have to at least try to accept and repsect that other people may have a different bent GS and I have to be able help them when they come to me for what they have as a GS . Duke .. can you try to understand that when I write also on the PDB .

While this is a super nice puppy, if I want this level of possession, I'd get a Malinois.

For me, Shepherds have to be balanced. This isn't balanced anymore. Sure, it serves a purpose and there is a market for these types of dogs, but it's not for me. It's too much. I like a powerful dog but a powerful dog can also be a balanced dog. I want the German Shepherd to be a German Shepherd Dog. Personally, I got extremely lucky with two very powerful dogs. Both perfect (for me) in their own ways. These two dogs are my blueprint for what I like and what I want in my dogs.

That being said, that puppy is really nice. Just not what I would want because I'm not quite sure I could deal with this high level of possession. Champ has a great deal of possession and it's not been easy but this? This is next level and the only time I've seen this level of possession was in Mike Suttles dogs.

I also don't mind if my dogs mature a little later.

Duke, It's one month later. How are these pups coming along?

Emoryg, thanks for asking, they are doing very good

this is pup from video, when I walk him in the city, I give him anything I have in the car, in this case a mentos container, to be able to walk him and not constantly biting the leash or my leg LOL, works like a charm

will see if I can make some new vids soon

Thats a super super nice dog but definitely too much for someone like me.

I have watched a few videos of him and his sibblings, seems like a really nice litter.
