Bottom line is that Bob Fox wants the OP to breed a dog with severe HD. You would have to wonder why. Is the bitch so extraordinary that the GSD cannot do without her genetics or is it just a matter of him being a poor ethics 'breeder' (the term used very loosely) motivated strictly by money (or whatever)?

He posts on pragres forum, so peeps can get in touch with him there if they have anything to say that he can respond to.
There are a cajillion " breeders" out there like him....gotta weed through them.. and that's on both sides of the pond, not exclusive to the USA.

Most of us are creatures of our experiences, ( long time breeders), I’m not saying my thinking is absolute, just my experiences.😊
i will say though that if genetics isn’t a major factor, then it really makes no sense to breed to, or linebreed on, notable “hip improvers” like Aly Vordinsteinwald or Lord, or Faro Policia, for improvement of hips.

This myth/urban legend/whatever it is needs to die. Hip dysplasia cannot be caused by any of the factors listed above. If the dog has garbage conformation then exercise and repetitive strain and poor diet can exacerbate the problem, but you can't cause HD in a healthy dog with well-formed hips. It is not possible.
I suspect this is a story made up by breeders to make excuses for dogs produced with HD.

Nope, it's not. There have actually been peer reviewed studies about the subject and it quite literally starts in the whelping box. A lot of breeders are changing the way they rear puppies because of it and a lot of us take these studies very serious. Of course genetics play a roll, but so does the environment of the dog. There is absolutely no question about it that both play a roll. Issue is, it's not 50/50. Sometimes its 90/10 sometimes 20/80.... but yeah.... and by the way... most breeders are super stingy about NOT breeding a dog with HD. They will fry you on a stake for doing so... ESPECIALLY Shepherd breeders.

dont think there is such thing as hip improving dogs, as its allways a matter of who they are paired with plus environmentals, but like I said before, we also have to look at why xrays are not good as there are differences too

I have a dog that had perfect xrays at 9 months,
one hip out at 12 months and hip back in at 16 months,
but had some small damage due to that accident/injurie, she has a passing hipscore, so im not afraid to breed
