Sunsilver

by Sunsilver on 27 March 2011 - 14:03

I have nothing against observing wild animals from a respectful distance. I went whale-watching on my honeymoon, and it was by far the highlight of the trip, especially when the dominant male orca in the pod dove right underneath our Zodiac, and surfaced just 15 feet away!  But for heaven's sake, show the animal some respect!

I love to canoe, and love to watch the water birds that are native to my part of the world, but I don't chase after them and jump into the water with them. (Those big Canada geese have VERY powerful wings, and will use them to protect their nests and their young!)

I was thinking the same thing, Sunsilver.  So many people want to get up close and personal with a wild animal, but  usually the well being and stress level of said  wild animal is about the last thing those people are thinking about.  Personally I would have gotten a kick out it if the shark had turned around and give the guy the ultimate "FU" by flicking him with it's tail and taught him and any other yahoo thinking about doing the same thing,  a permanent lesson.

One time years ago my hubbie and I were on the shore watching a couple whales lobtailing and breaching  off  the coast of Northern California.  It was really an incredible sight to behold, unfortunately cut short when a jerk in a motor boat decided he needed to get closer and ruined the whole thing.

Why do you canoe? You're disturbing the microbial organisms, or perhaps the minnows.  Don't walk down the grassy knoll, you'll disturb the birds and the squirrels feeding.  Don't approach anything in nature, you'll disturb it!  Get real.  The sooner you understand that humans are a part of nature, the less mentally ill you'll be.  I love how you back track, then make other excuses/claims only leaving your IQless brain scattered all over the floor. Where was the chasing? I for one didn't see the docile shark running away.  Maybe you should represent the dolphins, cause I'm sure most of them are pissed that those curious humans want to swim with them. I mean they get so angry that they actually have dolphin sex with those pesky humans.

No need to get so nasty, there was no malice in the origianl post.  There was a misunderstanding about the nature of the beast, but Sunsilver gets nasty with none and there's no reason to act that way with her.
