Gouda, if you are going to quote something that someone said, please post the statement in it's full context not just a fragment of a sentence....As if that was not enough, your quote was from RC Sproul Jr. That is not the same person as Dr. R. C. Sproul..

Others..
Here's the deal..Spend the weekend reading the Bible. Go to the scriptures with a clean slate. Don't try to make a doctrine fit into the scriptures,. Let the scriptures determine your doctrine..The Bible is written to and for Gods people. Read it like it is talking to you, not your anyone else...
suggest starting in the 17th chapter of John and Romans 9,,,Very rich in the topic we are discussing here...

I have just returned home from a long night at work and my mind is not a fresh as I would like it to be...lol...I am not going to be on this thread over the weekend, but I hope that on Monday we can continue discussing this topic..

RS, not sure what you mean??..Post the scriptures that you are referring to and explain what your concern is....

Moons...Seriously,,you are such a sour puss..lol..Please don't troll on this thread...You said yourself that you don't believe in the God of the Bible or have Christian faith...

I understand this is OT and you have a right according to the TOS, but for decency sake and because I am asking you please stop posting needless sarcasm..I would extend the same courtesy to you if the tables were turned...

Now, on the other hand. If you have something sincere to add to the topic being discussed I encourage you to participate..If not, make like the wind and blow!!..lol..or burn like fire or run like sh*t...Whatever it was that you posted above.lol..I couldn't resist..lol..;)

Hi Deanna, the problem I have with predestination is the part where God sends His wrath on the unbelievers  The seven bowls of judgment. Rev 15-17.
We also have the second death, where everyone will be judged according to their deeds.  Those that follow Satan, will follow him to Hell.  Why, if God predestins someone to Hell, bother judging them for their deeds?  They  have no choice in the matter.
That part makes no sense to me.

Red Sable,

Predestination in my book of understanding is that God knows what will happen to each individual; God gave choice even God himself knows what choices each person will make, and because of that God will judge according to their deeds.

My reply--  Deanna I have done just that for 40 years,AND THE SCRIPTURES TAUGHT ME THE DOCTRINE THAT I BELIEVE IN ,IT WAS NOT THE INTERPITATION OF A MAN LIKE Dave hunt or Dr. Rc Sprowel that did it for me,I believe it was the knowledge that the holy ghost teaches when you study the  word every day.  I believe for the the unbelievers and believers  here it would be wiser for them to study the whole gospel of John and believe it first.    Please reply to that little piece by DaVE HUNT, It was meant to be from me ,but I used his better gramar and wanted every one here to know who wrote it.

Who do people say I am ?..... Peter, replied....you
are the Christ, the Messiah, the Son of God.

Jesus says to Peter ....you have not come by this
because of what you have heard, but by God alone.

Where did Peter get his faith.....?

This is my understand of John chap ter 17

On the eve of his crucifixion Jesus is interceding for His people Aftre reporting to his Father the completion of his mission on earth,He prays for our sanctification, unity and our blessedness in heaven.  Jesuses prayer here was for all believers of all time.
The part that really helped my way of deciding the doctrine I believe in is.

verse 8 For I have I have given to them the words you which you have given me;  And they have recieved them and have known surely that I came forth from You they have believed that You sent me.  BIG WORD HERE IS HAVE BELIEVED.
Yes all the peoploe that believed were given to christ by his fATHER.

At one time religiosity had galvanized the Israelites
into one group of people...but eventually corruption
began to do the opposite..God knew this would happen
and the  prophets fortold of a redeemer....

The Sadducee took a political road and denied the
existence of angels...the Pharisees still believed
in angels and a redeemer....

God ended religiosity when Jesus was born..
Jesus plainly said to his flock they would be his body.
And gave instructions as to eat and live of the body
of God....Many turned away.

Faith comes by God alone...

Deanna--

Romans chapter 9  The biblical noun elect refers to those who are chosen, election means THE PROCESS OF CHOOSING WORDS which refer to Gods electing or choosing people are used in different ways.     Terms of election sometimes describe Gods chouce of a person to do a task.  Forexamle in v 10-13 God chose Jacob instesd of Esau to be the line of the descendent through whom the people of Israel would emerge. EPH.1;3-6 describes Gods chouce of what He would make out of those who believe in Christ.    Before the foundation of the world God determined that those who believed would be made holy and adopted as His children, They would be Christ like ROMANS 8:29-30. Election can also refer to the way in which God determins who will be saved.  It is the sovereign God who makes this decision.  He prepared His plan of salvation from eternity.  But the question is.What is the bacis upon which God chooses those who are elected for salvation.    Deanna i believe asserts that Gods choise is a predestination based entirely on His sovereign will.  I think Deanna believes that God has determined in Himself what He would have become of every individual of mankind, for they are created with a simaler  destiny, but eternal life is foredained for some, and eternal danmnation for others.  Every men therefore, being created for one or the other of these ends.So Deanna must believe a person then is predestined to life or death.  This to me is tottally unbiblical.  My Bible teaches that  everyone is responsible to accept or reject Christ,Gods free offer of salvation.  Election to eternal life or eternal death is based on  GODS OFFER OF SALVATION TO ALL PEOPLE,AND THE INDIVIDUAL RESPONCE TO THAT OFFER.   i POSTED THE VERSES IN AN EARLIAR POST dEANNA,BUT NEVER GOT YOUR REPLY ON THESE SCRIPTURES.
dEUT 30:19,, Josh. 24:15,, Zech.  13:9,, Matt.  11:27-29,,John 20:31,, Acts 16:31,,Romans 4:3,,Rev.22:17.    Based on these scriptures and many others, election is Gods purpose to save humand kind from the ruin of sin.  Salvation is offered TO ALL through faith in Jesus Christ.  THE PERSONS WHO ARE ELECTED TO BE SAVED ARE THOSE WHO ACCEPT  GODS OFFER,  GODS CHOSEN.

Deanna John 3:16  is in context with 2 PETER 3:9,  AND ALL THE ABOVE SCRIPTURES.
