Well, I thought maybe if I pushed the right button it would work again! LOL
And right now all we seem to have is an odd piece of sculpture.
Oh that boy. He loves to do Brawl hacks. If I convince myself I can do this, I will let you know what was the result. I'm just wondering if you think you know what part of the computer has been damaged by downloading to an incompatable system. And if I could just get a system to run I could reformat....but...oh well. I mean some things do work, it can't all be bad...can it?
LOL, real computer. The PC laptop in the kitchen, I can only do so much with. I still don't know how to copy and paste from that track thing, I always have to come to my Mac whenever I want to actually do anything.
And the boy has his own laptop PC...but he sure is missing having "his" iMac down!

"I'm just wondering if you think you know what part of the computer has been damaged by downloading to an incompatable system."
I would be shocked to find out this is anything but software related.
You can't boot from the hard drive, you can't boot from a disk you either have massive hardware failure or something has corrupted the boot/startup files.
I do not know enough about a Macs software to be of much help beyond seaching the net.
One last thing--when you try and boot from the disks--do you press and hold C while the computer is starting? If you didn't for every disk you might want to try again.

Also, if you know how to take the case apart the LEDs might help you to figure out what is going on with this computer.

Sorry to leave you hanging, lol, had to go to a swim meet.
The answer is YES to the "C" hold. Damn thing is broke. I guess I'm going to have to make a phone call and see if it is worth it to fix this thing. I think the start up is corrupted myself and if I could just get it to read a disc I could fix it, but well, I can't.
Thanks for trying, that was very nice of you.
For everyone else with an old mac: DO NOT Upgrade the Flash player!!!

Oh, I just saw your other post.... then you think maybe I could fix it with the LED....that's what I was thinking. I've never taken the case apart but I have a bunch of fancy jewelers type fine screwdrivers so I think I can do it. I just have to what, make sure there is no static electricity and dog hair?

Just so you know, I seem to have baffled the Apple discussion board with this, too.
I think I'm going to try this LED thing, but not today. I've really got nothing to lose at this point. Do wish me luck.

GOOD LUCK! Just so you know, I was updating my flash player when my recent computer problems started. AND my computer would not restart once turned off. I finally got the dang thing restarted by cutting the power for 5 minutes, & then restarting holding the power & reboot buttons both down to restart. Got the blue screen of death, then my windows welcome screen came up & all was well. I then sent an error report which told me to disable my flash player, & I did that. I haven't dared turn it off since then, but it's working.....!?!? Good luck! jackie harris
BTW-it sounds like you know a whole lot more than me about this stuff!

Looks like I'm really going to need it. According to my Serial number, I was just informed this iMac is considered "Vintage"! What? More than five years and less than seven! (Seven or more and you are labeled: Obslolete!)
See below in yellow.
Now, get this, even they are only obligated to help fix it in CA, if it was bought there. Which, since I ordered it online and it came from Cupertino, I think I would qualify. However, there is no way I'm sending this to CA!!!!
Unbelievable.
This is making me think that I'm going to open this up just for heck of it. What have I got to lose? Get the boy involved maybe. Since we all know I don't own a gun, shooting it is out of the question. (That's a joke!!! LOL)
Oh, and I am on my 5th Mac, actually. I am 100% self-taught, and only learn stuff on an as needed basis, LOL Among my friends though, I am the expert, but that isn't saying much. LOL I have zero computer language skills. I'm just fairly competent at following directions. I read instructions.... (I am Woman, hear me Roar) LOL

Happy valentine's day Bee.
My suggestion; Sat morning take that baby down to the local Rod & Gun club and ask them if they want to use it for target practice. They might even loan you a gun for the initial shot. LOL
