Ahhh, thank you so very much, Carl was able to walk about 10 feet this PM. He ate his dinner, & is watching NCIS & seems to understand everything! Night & day difference from yesterday! Thanks again for everything! jackie harris

Jackie I'm so sorry to hear about this, just found this thread today. Please know I will keep good thoughts in my heart for both you and Carl. No one could fault you for being upset, probably least of all Carl. I'm so glad to read of his positive progress.

Thank you very much, everyone! Carl is doing so much better his doctors are talking about discharging him....to the same rehab place that ignored him nearly to death! I am trying to convince them that he would be better just coming home. Forget rehab, we have an excellent outpatient PT place at the end of our road. My biggest worry is dealing with the blood thinners. They are switching him from Fragmin to Coumadin, that means daily lab work until we get the right dosage, 'cause everyone's a little different with that med....what's too much for one is not enough for another. That would be tricky, but I'm very sure I don't want the unobservant rehab staff dealing with it either. Would they notice if he was bleeding to death? I've no confidence at all left in me as far as they go! So.....keep your fingers crossed that they will d/c Carl to home with out patient labs & PT!
Thanks again for all your positive energy & your prayers! jackie harris

What a relief for you, thank God!
Coumadin - both of my parents are on it....they got weekly blood tests until their dosage was correct and then monthly, and now every other month.

Jackie I am so glad to hear Carl is doing better. Perhaps they can send him home to recover with either in home or out patient therapy and a visiting nurse.
My son was discharged from the hosptial yesterday, he has been battling blood clots in his legs and lungs. This last trip they were unsure they would be able to save his foot. He is on blod thinners he has to inject everyday and the nurse will be coming everyday to check on him.

Judy God bless your son & speed his recovery! Carl has his own private duty nurse in me, & I'm sure we will cope with it all somehow....I just pray they discharge him home....Thanks!

'Atta boy, Carl--you know you've got this in hand now, and with Jackie doing your caretaking at home, there's no better nursing to be had anywhere on this or any other planet! Where better to recuperate than in your own home, with your dogs there to cheer you on and cheer you up as you regain your strength?
Continuing to keep you both in my thoughts as Carl battles his way back from a very frightening event!

Judy, hopefully your son's condition will continue to improve now that's he's home, and they'll get his coagulation issues straightened out quickly, and he's able to get back to doing the things he loves with his life again.

Haven't been on here for a couple of days. So sorry to hear about all that your husband has gone through Jackie. And, Judy sorry to hear about your son. I will pray for both of them. God bless them and both of you as well as you care for them.
