@ VK4 - transition yes - first teeny tiny civil step - yes.

The dog dealt with what it was faced with, or put another way - even the most civil dog - will bite the body part presented.

I am not criticizing the dog.

Just pointing out - a very LAME civil vid. (as opposed to a lame dog)

Gee

GEE: shaking bottles and screaming in the dogs face, if that is your yard stick re pressure - LAME.

Sure it is lame but dogs I have seen who have been started like Hans starts dogs can't handle it. So that is where I was going. It certainly isn't my "yard stick" I was just using that as an example.

Absolutely irrelevant which drive a dog engages in when civil - surely you know that?

Well Hans thinks a dog should only be pushed into defense to make a dog civil. I was merely saying it is possible and IMO more desirable in prey due to the higher levels of confidence.

Your scenario was not civil, presentation of the body part was a joke, your dog dealt with a routine.

I assume you are referring to the carjack. The decoy must present the forearm if that is the only body part that is protected. Again...I provided the videos to show my sport dog NOT choosing "defaulting to" equipment over the decoy. Who has a hidden sleeve (which is considered a civil RESPONSE in the PSA sport). I recognize you may not believe this to be a civil scenario because this wasn't her first carjack...but you are splitting hairs.

back it up with something which is credible, and not a vid which in civil terms is LAME.
I was never showing any videos to do anything except show my sport dog would not "default" to equipment. Never said it was a civil video. My comments on my dog were in reference to Hans's  critique of her, certainly not a brag.

Not quite the apology that is deserved, and that would be the class act.

Wow  - you are barking up the wrong tree.

Not recusing the LAME pronouncement is an insult. This woman deserves her respect in the field.

by Gee on 15 May 2016 - 01:05

@beetree - firstly I wouldn't dare condensend any ones achievements by gender.

Secondly - I don't feel the need to define this knowledgeable handler/ trainer as a WOMAN - how ridiculous.

I am using the term lame - purely in a civil context, to describe the scenario - not the dog or the gender of the handler - I am confident they understand. (Can assure you it would be just as relevant no matter who holds the bloody leash)

Gee,

I am not so sure about your conclusion, seeing as you did delete responses. I do react with female feeling and did not get the full impact of your stated gender neutrality as being truthful. There are games that are played, all the time.

One will make their own judgments in the end.

At this time I will accept your explanation and that your experience and words do match the accomplishments that are due fo fhe lady.

Regards as well,

BEE

Beetree - I can assure you, I know to many EXCELLENT female handlers, not to mention the absolute apple of my world - my daughter to, tell you - I am the opposite off a sexist pig.

You are barking up the wrong tree.

Am I confused? There is no tree involved with this question... but,

Do you consider GSDfan on the level as your daughter?

She is considered quite a high mark over here.
