Hi all. My name is Quin and I own an 1yr 7mo old black tri Australian Shepherd, named Rasp. I own a 4mo GSD as well. I'm currently a Junior Handler and have been attending showing classes in my area. Soon, I will be showing a local breeders dogs for fun to get my feet wet.

I strongly value workability in breeding stock and refuse to breed dogs without working titles.

Rasp is my second dog. My previous dog hated other dogs and it wasn't easy going. Compared to that, owning Rasp has been a joy. His parents were health tested for hip dysplasia, MRD1, and elbow tested. We're currently training for our CGC and next month we'll be going to our first trial, in May, for Barn Hunt.

My second dog came about unexpectedly:

Her name is, "Quincy's More Than A Color". She's supposedly a German Shepherd.

Shes's a distant relative to Lewcinka's Franka von Phenom (DNA Verified GSD), the original "panda"/kit mutated GSD. You can view the known parts of her pedigree on Pedigree Database below.

I rescued her from shitty owners recently. She's only 4mo, and had been shoved in a crate 15+ hours a day by her past owners with little to non potty breaks. She is underweight and malnourished. Her pedigree has no health tested dogs for five generations, unfortunately. I intend to get prelims done at 12mo for my mental stability.

We're working on building tug drive and ball drive. Her temperament, for a backyard bred puppy, is surprisingly stable. She's confident around people and large crowds, isn't scared of loud noises, and due to proper socialization on my part, isn't reactive towards dogs. She's very local and doesn't blink an eye at being chastised. I've been contemplating attending the local Schutzhund club for fun.

Hi Quin, can I be the first to say "Welcome to PDB" ?
And also welcome to the ranks of young show handlers,
the dog world always needs to nurture its' next generation !

I also want to say this: you may get a little flack on here
for having a Panda GSD - indeed, you may even get it
from me, I can't stand how people (not 'proper' breeders
to my mind) exploit the GSD breed for odd colours and
such features, especially when they do not care about the
health tests or working exercises good breeders use on
their stock ! I am a traditionalist in many ways with the
breed and cannot bear them to have so much white on them.
BUT I do think you have done the right thing for your pup,
and I feel you should be congratulated on having rescued
her. I wish you all the luck in the world with both your dogs.

Thank you!

Oh, I'm aware of the controversy surrounding Pandas on this forum. However, I stand by the fact I did not support irresponsible breeders. In no shape or form did I pay the breeder for this puppy. I firmly believe that health testing and working ability are foremost important, and I put my money where my beliefs are.

If you do note, I named the puppy "More Than A Color". Her color makes no difference to me. Workability and health do. That's precisely why I have contacted by local Schutzhund club for assistance with harnessing those traits. I have wanted to dabble in Schutzhund for years, so this is a great opportunity as a junior handler to learn and get my foot in the door.

I have no intention to breed Bailey. She's a puppy. I'm keeping her intact because I believe that the concerns of early spay/neuter are worth considering. I'm not a breeder, I'm simply an owner. I primarily plan to breed Aussies, not GSD.

@Fervious Thanks for saving Quincy from such a horrid life! I think both your pictures clearly show happy, engaged dogs! I am rooting for you to show up at the Schutzhund club ready to train Quincy!

I hope you continue sharing your dog training stories! You sound like an inspiration for many, to me.

Thank you bee! I've been lurking for quite awhile and you seem to have good contributions to discussions. I always like seeing you around!

I've renamed the panda puppy from Bailey to Rampant. I'm thinking about one day trying to get her BH and CGC. I'm not sure if Schutzhund will always be in her future seeing as I'm worried about her hips. For now, it's tug games and obedience for us!

I'm blessed to have a Schutzhund club only 40 mins from me. I hope to join them for tracking after my Barn Hunt trial (trying to get Rasp his RATN)

Hi all, I am a long time lurker on here and thought I'd be brave an say hello. I have a 12 month old reverse mask GSD called Rico and a 11.5 year old tervueren called Freddie. Rico is my 4th GSD and is going to do some working trials training soon. Freddie was successful in the show ring when he was younger, winning 1st special junior male terv at crufts in 2006. Rico is a very happy, confident pup with a wonderful temperament. Looking forward to getting to know you all.

If that Terv in your avatar photo is Freddie, he is
lovely !
'Hello'. Welcome. Good luck with Rico - are you
sticking to Trials or are you Showing him too ?
(Is he named after anyone in particular - his sire,
perhaps ???) Are you still in the UK ?

Linda.

Hi Linda thanks for welcome.
Yes Freddie is the dog in my avatar he is beautiful boy inside and out. The only dog to jump up and kiss the judge at crufts !!
Rico was named my partner don't really know why just liked it. He is a reverse mask blanket black and tan so think he would be laughed out of showring! I will try post some pics when I work it out.
Oh and yes we are in the Wirral UK

Regular Smile  I asked about the name because it's the pet name

of the dog who went GSD BOB at Cruft's, 2 or 3 years

running, up to 2014 I think it was ...Elmo's been used

at stud quite a bit, so I wondered if your pup was one

of his.

"No good dog is a bad colour".  I have seen blanket-

backed dogs, bi-colour dogs, sable dogs & all-black

dogs, all placed in classes in UK showrings down the

years, so never say never !!! LOL.  Best of luck, whatever

you do with him.

Nice to have another Brit posting on here, there aren't

that many of us.  [And you have an excellent forename,

if I may say so !]
