I teach my dogs pet commands and sport commands. Example in real life when called to heel my dog heels on the right side with his head down. In sport, on the left with head up prancing.

For Dexor:
While doing the ratings I tried to focus on correct performance according to the trial rules, and on natural movement of handlers and dogs. Walking backwards, this means not walking with the shoulderblade ( dog ) on knee level ( handler ) was a rating criteria as well as the so called "frog walk", this means the dog is almost moving on its hocks.
I hope this makes sense - I tried to translate as accurate as possible.

@Skyhorseranch - Heeling is worth much more than 10 points... Your only looking at teh initial part of the Phase B, but you have to also heel to and from the dumbells and you heel into the build up of the send out. Heeling is also judged during the protection phase :)
Kind of on topic...Paraphrased from the WUSV Team Captain and Judges meeting:
- Obedience Judge report – Gunther Diegel (Germany) Gunther Diegel said we must have balanced training. We cannot train only with love and rewards. We need pressure but it must be balanced, and at the end of our work it should not be possible to see pressure. When the dog has really understood what he must do, then he loves his work. Gunther Diegel raised two issues in obedience for consideration/discussion. Attention – what is attention to the handler? – not just staring at one part of the body (waiting for a toy) but real attention / communication with the handler.
- Protection judge report – Josef Vonarburg (Switzerland) ....The trial regulations emphasise obedience. We must also have this in protection. Now there is a high standard in protection obedience along with power. There has been lots of development in all countries, even where IPO is not so big. They have made great progress in the obedience/control part of protection.
