I have had two Covy-Tucker dogs.My present female Holly who is heavily linebred on Sundance Kid and a male who died.I believe one could do better than their breeding, for a pet.Yasko may be shown to put an akc championship on him because he moves like the wind.

Yasko man, it would be interesting to see what the AKC judges will do if you present Yasko to them. Will they acknowledge who he is and place him where he belongs, or will they show to the rest of the GSD world how utterly different the American bred GSD is? As mentioned in another thread, one of these judges considered our old dog, VA-Sam vom Haus Burow, a dog who was a mere pet quality. Sincerely, Chris

Hi Chris, Please tell us more - in what respects exactly - about Sam that is. Regard.

Hi Peter, please read my comment: http://www.pedigreedatabase.com/gsd/bulletins_read/21116.html#21235 Of course, Sam was nothing like Yasko, but in 1995, he was one of the better German imports hereand a true ambassador to this breed. He was my husband Joe's pride and joy. And Joe worked him all winter, even bicycled in snow and had him swimming. They were both in good shape. We had a German girlfriend come over to handle him at the 1995 USA Sieger Show. A few days before, he came down with a bad case of giardia. My vet gave him a shot which caused him to be terribly constipated. He could not go potty until the morning of the show and we considered pulling him. But we showed him and after a bad standing exam, he started to perk up and ran his heart out for us. He gained 14 (!) places and ended up with the last VA spot. The judge, Ernst Rückert said that he is going to stop this judging now, otherwise Sam would be the only dog left in the ring, all the other ones started to break down. It was early in Spring, but getting unusually hot in North Carolina. Sam's bitework was exceptional, too. The year before, Dog Sports Magazine, which used to be a well respected publication here in the U.S., had written about Sam and that his impact with the helper (at the Sieger Show before) was really loud. A few working people were trying to convince us to trial him, but it would have meant a lot of work for my husband. Sam died at 7 and half years of age due to anal fistulas, very heartbreaking. Anybody who has seen bad cases of that knows what I am talking about. So, Peter forgive my public ranting. If I had your e-mail I would have mailed you privately. Chris

Hi Chris, Don't know what to say - whole thing sounds too ghastly to bear! Don't want to cause a furore, but he sounds/looks just like the sort of thing some of these pampered Show pooches up there needed! (should I quickly take that back?) What? The real thing? Critter that actually wants to work? Where the heck was this judge coming from with 'pet quality'? I've got bitch like that - a bit too exuberant for some, but god, does she want to work! And so independent - doesn't like to be fussed over! Bloody love the thing! It's in the blood, of course. Rather not place myself in your hasband's shoes here! Ranting? ---- Where? When? Email anytime, please.

Hi Peter, I just returned from the first Christmas party of the season (at my work). The kids are asleep, hubby is at work and I am going to call it in, too. It is almost midnight. Just wanted to say hi and thanks for your reply. Please send us your e-mail address sometimes (just click on Silbersee, and then send e-mail to Silbersee). Just fill in a decent subject, so you don't get erased unopened as SPAM, lol. Good night, Chris

Chris, If still up, will do and thank you. If not, sleep well. Come to think of it, my lady is at her party, and I've got to make own dinner!

I bought a gorgeous female puppy from Covy-Tucker who was so fearful and shy that she was afraid of a leaf on the sidewalk. After two years of intensive socialization (walk up to every scap of paper she was afraid of and turn it into a game, etc. etc.) and special training to stop her from becoming a fear biter, she became a wonderful companion. Is she worth it? Yes! Would I buy from Covy-Tucker again? No!
