The decoy at the top of the ladder in the dark - he only had a hidden sleeve on the one leg hence his urgency to ensure the dog took that very leg lol.
First time that dog had been asked to do that particular scenario - his very drive to engage - easily carrying him through.
My dogs are not looking for a sleeve - they will bite first body part they reach. (Apart from using hidden enquipment - our extensive use of the muzzle - in various envirnoments re inforces that)
Here is the same dog, a different decoy, a very different kick - and completley un rehearsed.
Not implying this dog had no previous leg bite / civil training - because he had.
Simply saying that this location / scenario for the dog is unrehearsed.
(Doesn't mean he is a super star or it's rocket science, but it is un rehearsed)

I'm glad we have so much IPO experience on this forum and even have people that have gone to every single trial in history and know exactly how every dog is warmed up before it gets onto the field. It's pretty amazing. That same person, has also seen EVERY SINGLE IPO dog and they're all robots by 3-4 years of age. It's pretty cool to have those types of people on the forum.
Hey Gee...with as small as IPO is in England, and with as great as your dogs and training is, how come none of them made the WUSV team? I mean, your country sent the one dog, would've thought that the other 4 spots could easily be filled by your dogs with the amazing training they seem to not need. They just need the situation presented to them once and they know exactly what to do.

@BW
It's not complicated - my dogs are trained by me.
Don't know where you get that I have said they are not trained.
Regarding scenario stuff, surprised you think it HAS to be rehearsed.
(Explains a lot though)
A decent trained dog with strong nerves and high civil / fight drive - will run through hot coals to get to the bad guy UNREHEARSED.
I choose not to put my dogs through IPO because what you deem protection - is LAME.
Here is an idea though - rather than bad mouthing your fellow IPO folk here in the UK.
Why don't you just show us your dog doing - anything?

I don't deem IPO as protection, I have never said that at all. All I said was that I could work a dog on a sleeve, in IPO type scenarios, and tell you with pretty good accuracy if the dog's nerve would hold up in a different environment in the same type of scenarios that you're showing your dogs. Of course that would involve training the dog to do so and introducing similar type scenarios to the dog before hand, but even with IPO type scenarios I can get a lot of the same information you get when you push your dogs to do the types of scenarios you like to highlight in your videos.
A good dog is a good dog and can handle both. For most of us, IPO or other sports are easier to train in because they're more available and for most people the draw of a title, possibly breeding the dog the "correct/historical" way is much more interesting than random personal protection training which you then have to show people tons of videos and proof in order to convince them your dog is capable of things.
I don't mind the protection work, you do a good job, you have good dogs. I mind the constant bashing of "sport" training as if it's something lesser. It's the same thing. We chose two different venues. A good dog would succeed in either one.

@BW
I have never said IPO is easy - EVER, so don't fabricate that, to title a dog is an achievement.
A good dog can handle both, there are many examples on MANY pedigrees which prove that - and long may that continue. (Including my own dogs lineage, Ben Ju to name but 1)
