for the readers. : predatory behaviors .. that is " prey" .. IS  Aggression ..  there lie  differentials of that specific behavior :  what is the intent of the predator ? even in a play gesture .. prey still implies and eminates a sense of control and domination toward another [or an object]... doesn't it ?

Prey drive-the instinctive inclination of a carnivore to pursue and capture prey.
Aggression-behavior or dispostion that is forceful, hostile or attacking, with the intention to cause harm.

Neither definition offers a solution to assist the OP with her original question in trying to address the issue with her young female.

3Shep2 - I hope my inquiry didn't come across as snarky...I'm genuinely curious.  However, my experience pales in comparison to yours, LOL.  I'm dealing with my first GSD and haven't been able to connect with a trainer/behaviorist to determine what her ultimate goal/motivation might be.

ETA - I'm not the OP, but look to various resources for info.

It is well you are seeking input-been there, done that-I'm fortuanate that my father actually grew up working livestock-then I was associated with a professional trainer for 10 years and still maintain contact.  I currently live within five miles of a training center that I maintained membership in for over 6 years and if necessary can seek advise anytime.  I also briefly worked with a retired K-9 trainer-I'm always seeking someone with the ability to teach something new.

Of course, the best education I've received is the daily experience with over 30 dogs throughout my life-I've five German Shepherds living with me now.

My job also required that I be able to read the dogs that I encounter-in seven years-my shoe laces are the only thing to suffer-whereas a distance associate had his face ripped off by two pit bulls.

As stated in my first post-I couldn't offer training advise to the OP-but the suggestion I've have used and has worked beautifully with my girl and saved my others from injury.

You are more then welcome to PM if you would like.
