D.H, India,Pakistan, Bangladesh etc were under british rule till 55 years back. Their education system still follows the English system, and English is the medium of instruction in most schools.
Sunshine, I guess Bangladesh has a story similar to india in terms of media coverage. News channels poke their nose in there only if there is a catastrophe of any kind. You wouldn't believe how many people have asked me if people in india go to work on horses or elephants.
