How sad....Some people...But look at the tremendous response both you and Kristen had posting on different lists from many good people. I do like to think there are more good people out there than bad. You both deserve pats on the back. Hopefully, the owner can relinquish her & someone will step forward and give Lissy her forever home. She deserves to be an only dog and enjoy her golden years like she should. Kougar I agree with you about the older bitches. Our girls deserve their retirement at 7 years of age. I spay then and they continue to enjoy a wonderful life as a treasured family member.

That is outrageous. It really sounded suspicious. He should be investigated. How did this female escape? The name of that person should be released. Has to be a BWB. Roger.

Yes, the whole thing is a sad mess. Kristin said that she was going to take Lissy to her SchH club on Saturday to give her a break from jail. Since Lissy is no longer a shelter dog, she's not on the site any more. A board member here is communicating in German with the breeder who sold her and another dog 3 years ago as to whether there is a clause in the contract that mandates any conditions upon surrender. This is doubtful. If anyone wants to adopt and spay this bitch, I think it would be best. The mammary tumor can be removed at the same time. She'd do best in a home where she's the queen, as she doesn't get along with other dogs. Don't know about kids and cats... Anybody???

Well, Lissy went to Kristin's Schutzhund Club and enjoyed herself immensely! She tended to make eye contact with some other dogs, but was easily correctable with a little pop on the leash and a mild voice correction. She is "incredibly obedient", per Kristin, and really desires to please. Since the owner isn't going to pick her up, and won't cut loose of the papers without money, Kristin is going to request that Lissy be spayed, and the tumor removed at the same time. Kristin would like to know if anyone is interested in adopting Lissy. Kristin has current pictures of Lissy taken at her Schutzhund club.

This the deal on Lissy. She's going to be pulled out of the shelter on March 12, and taken to a very short term foster home until she can have a pregnancy test, and the very small mammary tumor biopsied. I believe that she comes with a $35 voucher that after she's spayed, you get reimbursed that amount. She's in the Babylon, New York Area. Nobody wants to give the American owner a dime for her, considering the circumstances!!! Can't we please find a pet home for Lissy? She can still do Schutzhund for a hobbyist. When Kristin decides on a picture, I'll post a real ad in the Marketplace, since Kristin, like others, can't authenticate!

I do know Lissy was pulled, and I believe that the 503C Rescue organization was having her spayed and some mammary tumor removal. I got an email a few weeks ago - they estimated that the bill for her would be in excess of $600. They got all of 3 donations, totally less than $100. Come on, there are some people on this board who can and do make charitable donations for tax reasons. This is a 503C non-profit organization and the donation is tax deductible. I don't have the info handy right at this moment....but I think Kerry or Kristin might be able to provide it - let's do something real to help this dog and the people who took responsibility for her welfare.

Yes, Kougar, with all the posturing and pontificating, one would think that there would have been a tad more financial support! Just today, because you dredged up this thread, I received an email from a kind woman in Spain, who can't authenticate and post her own words, and was offering to help translate. My niece wants to have a lemonade and cookie sale, and I will bet money that she and her little friends can come up with at least $100! Lissy was placed in a fabulous family home, and has toys and other doggie friends. Why isn't this important enough to put your money where your mouths are??? Again, this is the address for donations to help offset the cost of helping ONE dog, a ONE-IN-A-MILLION dog! Thanks again, Kougar. Herding Dog Rescue, Inc. Here's what Kristin wrote yesterday about Lissy. What a marvelous dog! Thanks Kerry for the encouraging words. Lissy is doing great. She has become the personal guardian for their three year old. Will not let him go above the ankles into the water at the beach, she stands in front of him time and time again. I had her for 2 days while her family was moving. She was happy to visit, but ready to go back to her new home. I was sad and happy at the same time. It would be great to get more donations to cover the expenses. Thank you for working on it. She will be spayed and have the mass removed in a couple of weeks, she just finished her heat.

Just received a "thank you" card, along with a beautiful photo collage of Lissy, from Kirsten @ Herding Dog Rescue...Lissy looks wonderful, is clearly happy in her new situation as a beloved companion, and is doing well. :^) Thought we could all use a bit of good news for a change. And even though Lissy's future looks to be settled for the best, there will always be other dogs that come to this rescue group for help, so if you meant to send a donation for Lissy and didn't get around to doing so, it wouldn't hurt to send it now--they will absolutely put it to good use helping another unfortunate dog to a better life. There's a special place in the next world for folks who do rescue work. It's definitely not easy on the wallet, the mind, the heart or the soul.

We could definitely do with more more good news like this. I will be making a donation. Who else?
