It would be easier to read your whole post if an ad was not blocking half of it that cannot be moved.... you have people trying to help you, not torture you.....I know a perfect place for you to go hang out.... http://servicedogcentral.org/forum/index.php
I think they are the perfect people to deal with your needs. You did mention your dog is a service dog. Mine is also a Service dog. If you do want help of a rottweiler person near you as I offered before just let me know. If not, Bless your heart, have a wonderful rest of your day.

I cannot control the ads on here...that's the site owner's thing. Probably a source of income to generate money for his site. Regardless...
I am simply having her hips and elbows OFA prelim'd. I'm not spaying her before 2 years, as I don't agree with vets who choose to do it sooner, for various reasons.
I found a good vet, I have seen his work (aka, xrays and positioning) and he also came highly recommened to me by Dr. Mostoski, himself, who retired from MSU's radiology department a few years ago. I am not seeking another vet (as I have already found a good one who I see for regular things, and now, Dr. Wilson for xrays) all I was asking for was to make sure I wasn't forgetting anything when I go to the appointment...that's all. Jenni pointed out a wonderful thing, and that is to verify all information put on the xrays for submission. THAT was helpful, and things along THOSE lines are what I was seeking.
I'll not further comment on this, as I believe my question has been answered to my satisfaction, and there's no sense in dragging this thread further. I am thankful to everyone who contributed, hope you all have a wonderful day (or night, depending on where in the world you are) I'll be posting xrays and results from OFA when I get them. I am decent at reading hip xrays, not so much on elbows.
Thanks again, everybody.

You already know the positioning isn't good, so I'm not going to comment on that. Best guess these are normal hips for breed and age.

Where can I find those stats on "how much bad elbows pass down"?

by Jenni78 on 01 February 2014 - 14:02
This one, Blitzen? This shows stats of what grades led to what percentage of passing offspring. http://www.ridgebackregister.com/images/RR_11Sp_Elbow_Debate_singles.pdf

Mine came directly from OFA when I enquired to them about a specific litter pairing that had been announced as upcoming on line.

Your litter, GSDnewbie, or are you buying one of the resulting puppies?
It's confusing, isn't it? If I had a dog with grade 1 I'd have to have a lot more information before I'd eliminate it from breeding assuming all else was what I was breeding for.
I think this topic deserves its own thread.

I think it's been posted before, though a new one can't hurt. Especially in THIS country, where there IS no grading, simply pass or fail, I think a closer look is warranted for the reasons indicated in the article, especially with the concerns that further narrowing a gene pool can bring.

I do not breed as you well know. This was a bitch that was posted on line in a litter ad and she has a bad elbow. I enquired of the facts from OFA how this would affect the litter based on these two dogs specifically. This is all I know. They did not suggest these two be bred as the results are high that they will also have bad elbows. So many dogs why breed something inferrior. It is why I never bred my bitch.... I hold myself to a higher standard because I care about the breed.......
