By & large I'd agree with what Centurian and Slaux wrote ^^^.

At only 4 months I'd be worried if I saw this behaviour.  Because I cannot see your pup or his interaction with you, rather than be prescriptive, I'd just like to ask you:  how is he reacting to a correction from you when you do not simply allow him to roar at another dog (assuming that you do not just stand by and ignore that behaviour) ?

@ Shawni

I guess this is a Bismack dog? Is it a Marco progeny? I know a few people with Bismack dogs and they are aggressive from the " get go". Both owners of these dogs train for LE and consitenly claim these type of dogs are not favored in the "sport "oriented community of GSD lovers.

Get a second opinion other than the breeder. That person has '' a dog in the fight'' and might not be objective. The ''hair up'' is not a good signal about nerve.

It is mithuna , no not Marco but again for all who've asked , puppy is being socialized daily, both Indoors and outdoors , around people , kids , farm animals , trucks , buses, gunfire etc , this puppies breeding is not a sports dog type or even so Called working line... I understand most people aren't comfortable with seeing a 4 month old dog growling and showing teeth towards people and dogs( not in a shy manner or he wouldn't be with me ) but he comes from a long and rare line of very very civil dogs, after owning working line GSD I can tell you there's def a difference with this guy as he completely dominates.
I've had the dog evaluated by two reputable Leo trainers and both have said puppy is just dominant and has a well developed inherent sense of fight and aggression that has been long lost in GSD, I will be happy to post a video soon.

as far as the direction , he's gonna go the LEO/ patrol dog route.

I like that he is line bred on Lord Gleidsrick. A few European breeders ( especially those with Military K9 background from the pre 1989 era ) tend to favor this falvor of GSDs,and are trying to preserve them.

I must ask; Are mithuna and Shawnicus the same person? It is possible. I met Lord G. in 1989. I do not want to disappoint you mithuna, but I walked right up to the owner and spoke for a while. I [ we] were very interested in the East German dogs because the myth was that they were all ''killers'' . Lord was approachable and neutral in a stadium stairwell with many people walking near him. Shortly after this exposure the wall between east and west came down and thr USA were flooded with DDR dogs. Most were a less than advertised.

I write this with good intention .
A 4 month canine showing it's teeth to people and dogs is out way of normalcy expected for sound temperament and behavior. . Assuming the fact that some one actually ranted and raved about these bloodlines is true , I state that whoever educated you about this breeding and what this temperament and behavior in canines means is not on the up and up or is not to squared away in the head. Of course if this is a gaff post / thread , to see how posters respond to this scenario that is a different story.

I have a dog whose hair stands up when he chases a thrown ball or bites a sleeve on my arm ... he's very emotional and has a short fuse but he has a fuse and he is in control of his emotions. A four month old puppy is just a baby and still trying out behaviors to see what works. I have had some pups that were gentle as pups who grew up to be bone crushers at 3 years and some that were biting chewing fiends as pups that grew up to be confident and very stable serious adults with great control of their emotions. A lot of BS being spread here ... a pedigree or bloodline means very little .. it is all about the puppy ( 4 months old ) that you have and not some distant relatives. What were mom and dad like?? You should know this before buying a puppy. Second .. at 4 months nothing is set in stone .. pups can and usually do change. Some pups have a short fuse or a hair trigger but that does not mean they can't be great family dogs or be friendly with other dogs or people and then do whatever job you have in mind. I have had some pups that were ferocious as pups grow up and become very good dogs around people until their trigger was pulled ... then all hell will break loose. The dogs that do well regardless of their natural tendencies from mom and dad all are confident and trusting in their relationship with their humans and dogs in their family circle. Building a confident and trusting relationship with your dog is the key to everything else. I have a male now 7 years old that is as ferocious as they come and he still puts his upper body in my lap and expects to be loved on and stroked just as when he was 7 months. He will chew your flesh from bone and then crush the bone and eat it but his rage is controlled and managed because he has confidence and trust in me and I in him. The stability that a confident and trusting relationship brings to your dog's training and personality can not be over stressed .. it is of the utmost importance. If I was you I would get busy building a four month old puppy's trust and confidence in me, other dogs and it's human family. If I have a dog that is dog aggressive I put him with some older dogs that I trust and know ... they will train the puppy on proper dog social interaction. You will need to supervise as some pups get roughed up a bit in this process especially if they were taken from their mother too early and never got mom's tough love. The dogs that have severe and lifelong problems are those that grow up never trusting other humans ( sometimes not even their handler and trainer ) and that have no bonds with humans and dogs.
