For calcium I give chicken necks and turkey necks, it is like dog candy, they love it!

I used to feed RC and for a while...really liked it..BUT...then my dogs started having trouble with it. I still use "Baby Dog" and have had great luck with it. We have changed to National Dog Food and have been using it for 8 months now. The dogs have never looked better! They eat less and have wonderful coats and muscle tone. I've tried all the major brands over the years including the Holistics and the raw diet. By far...if done correctly...the raw/natural diet, I feel is the way to go. Robin I have had the same expirience liked the RC for a while but then the condition of my dogs was not to my liking and the same here I do like the puppy food large breed or babydog. Pups always look great. I used a few brands and stick now to NutriSource brand and feed raw meat and veggies. IMO the raw /kibbel diet is the one I like the most too. It does get scary with all these manufactures trying to make an extra buck changing over to cheaper grains etc . I emailed Nutri Source and told them that I was glad they not on the recall list and to please not change anything in their formular. I will try their large breed puppy food on my current litter hope the results are good as it is with the adult food formulars. Pia

Trailrider, we have a great health food store in this area. In addition to the pre-packaged stuff they have a lot of bulk products like nutritional yeast, lecithin, nuts, unsulferated molasses, pumpkin seeds, etc.. What's with dogs and those damned dryer sheets? Blitz is 5 now, but he thinks they are a treat and steals them from the trash every chance he gets. He seems to favor those that have already been used, but would probably eat fresh ones as well. I must say, when passed, they do a great job of removing all the other paper products he eats. They might even work as a dewormer LOL. This is a dog that has never chewed one single household or personal item even when he was a baby dog, but he never misses the chance to rip up and eat paper in any form.

REAL food is better than processed any day. Even the best, like Royal Canin are still processed at high temperatures and lots of the nutrients are destroyed. It may be more convenient to feed, but now there are plenty of quality raw, balanced prepackaged frozen foods. Common Sense is great. Darwins also seems promising.

Abby K, Can you send me the website where you get your quality RAW?

My dog does awesome on Froom "Salmon and veg" 3 days a week and raw the rest of the week.IMO, all the foods mentioned in the recall are not premium dog food.
