I'm not a GSD breeder and don't get to many SV shows, but I don't understand why anyone would shun a beautiful sable GSD. I believe Silbersee just posted a recent photo of a gorgeous sable bitch that would be a great addition of anyone's breeding program IMO. If it's any consolation, color prejudice exists in many breeds. I have shown Alaskan Malamutes since 1970 and it's the same now as then, hard to do much with a dog that isn't your typical grey and white with an open face. We have sables too (red and black factored) and they are just beautiful. Also black and white, red and white, dilute blues, pure whites some with bisquit markings. All acceptable per the standard, but still not accepted by most judges. I find looking at the same color gets boring, don't you? I think a good sable stands out in a crowd while a good red and black is just another nice looking GSD.

wow Blitzen I had no idea about the other colors in malamutes lol thanks!! id love to go find photos of those colorings now. I have seen some really goregeous sables personally, but like any other color ive also seen ugly lol i think beauty comes in all colors of gsd except perhaps one color for me I really dont care to see white ones, it used to didnt matter but for the last 8 months someone with a wite has been bugging the tar out of me and i am sorry to say my dislike is starting to spill over to her dog lol no offense to other white owners out there lol.

Yes Blitzen, I agree a good sable stands out. Color prejudice makes it very hard for Sable owners, Working or Show. (You are a Rebel with a cause.) Being different comes with a price! I agree with GSDNewbie structure counts, in working and in show. Those in working that do not agree are just kidding themselves. Good Structure makes the over all GSD. You should strive for the Total Package as a breeder of both working and show lines, thats what Max wanted!

Blitzen, I know of Silbersee. Her and her husband have been in dogs along time. I remember Tim Cruser and Jimmy Hill saying good thing about them, they are both in their region. Breeding Sable show lines takes alot of determination, given the Prejudice in the Show World! Congratuations Silbersee on your Gina!

Sable Gina vom Silbersee went first ring in Oberhausen, SG53. There were 3 sables in the first ring of the working male class. Two conformation line sables and a working line sable.

Gina certainly looks very nice on the photo posted here.

WE LOVE THE SABLES!! We are a breeder of show lines and we LOVE the sables. We had a beautiful red sable bitch that took 2nd at the WDA Sieger Show about 3 years ago under SV Judge Zygato.
