DJC, thanks for the insight on GSD digestive systems. It makes absolute sense to me, as no large breed dog has the massive amount of intestine for final digestion as do humans or small breed dogs.
I still feed kibble (Royal Canin) with good results, but I do realize that some dogs can have a serious issue with commercial food.
