Susie, I am just like you. I took his words at face value.

It's not just "badass" dogs, it's also dogs that can't focus anymore to begin with. We've been coming across more and more dogs that are very hectic dogs, that can't handle their own drives. These type of dogs have also a hard time to settle, they have to be constantly on the move.Personally, I don't like those type of dogs.

Can you name a few bonafide old school dogs?
Korbelbach, Maneiche, Haus Himpel, Busecker Schloss?

I see a lot of BS being written here in order to make ones point
if a dog is balanced and has defence, he also have defence at 4 months, someone wrote they dont, so what is a pup at 4 months in the wild going to do when cornered, give up and say OK eat me ,, really
in nature dogs NEED agression and defence to survive, now humans are turning dogs into pets or trophyhunters and decide that they dont need these qualities anymore
than there is the discussion about defence being fear based, I myself allways look in young pups if they come across something unexpected, do they back down/tail down, or do they go forward to the situation, tail up growling, and they can show hairs up in neck, no issue
many of todays sport trainers and helpers dont like and/or are unable to work with anything other than prey dogs, and to me that is fine, as they are in it for sport and sport alone
unfortunately a lot of these sport people talk bad about anything other than a prey dog and more unfortunately, if these people stood on a podium once or twice, there are tons of people who will believe them, based on their status only,
now I didnot see the videos or automaticly agree with poster, but many reactions in this topic to proove him wrong are factually incorrect,

Aggression/defense or lack there of has become the reason why the new dogs are what they are. People ignore the fact that the training the dogs at the highest level get is head and shoulders above anything that was being done before. It’s easier on the ego for a handler/trainer to make the claim that their dog has too much aggression and “not enough prey” to have flashy obedience rather than admit that they just don’t have the ability to train it.
