MRGSD2006, before you throw Hodie under the bus again, I think you need to do some research regarding her standing in the GSD community. You will find you are way out of line.

All I know is Hodie lives with 25 GSD'S, sounds like a slice of heaven to me.

MRGSD2006.. Correct your are. However; you did neglect to mention cases of HD occur much more frequently than once every two weeks. Apparently we need to educate even more than what we are currently doing! PS.. You think you are the only one who knew this? lol Get real...

MRGSD2006, Surely you must be a cop; no one else could possibly be so misinformed. Perhaps you have not noticed, but the dogs that end up with police departments are not the best dogs. The police get dogs that are not good enough for the sport (for breeding?). Dogs that do not grip well, or the nerves are not all there, etc. Why is this? It is due to several reasons. First, the majority of K-9 officers lack the ability to control a "good" dog. From what I have seen, K-9 officers are neither good trainers nor are they good handlers; thus a dog that is a bit lacking is easier for them to control. Secondly, I have found that many departments and officers like a dog that does not have the best nerves. These dogs may be more suspicious and quicker to bite in some circumstances. Yet, these same dogs are the ones that are worked endlessly so they do not run from the sport field. Finally, many departments do not have the funding to buy top quality dogs. The dogs they typically get cost about $5000, give or take. You can not but a top dog for this pice, unless the seller is an idiot. I realize many "true" working dog handlers detest schutzhund as a "game", but do not worry, we will still sell you our left overs.

Ranger, PS.. You think you are the only one who knew this? lol Get real... You get real, if you knew, why would you be asking the same questions, that you know have been answered over and over again? "you did neglect to mention cases of HD occur much more frequently than once every two weeks." Really, that is astounding. Tell us more about this information, that you have. How & Why do cases of HD occur more frequently than once every two weeks? "Apparently we need to educate even more than what we are currently doing!" Read the responses and educate yourself. People are trying to educate you.

wiener....you are living up to your name. The reason you idiot that I started this post was because I was looking at a website of a member of this board and noticed they are breeding a female with only prelims on hips. I found this amazing that people who read all the info on this board would do such a thing. Even more amazing is that I have to explain this to you! Get with it my boy!

by spook101 on 28 December 2006 - 02:12

It's hard to believe there is even a disagreement for the need to certify hips. Are the folks that are against it or ambivilent about it being true to themselves or are they breeding crap and trying to hide it?

spook I am sure money has alot to do with it as a few of the previous posts alluded too. Maybe it's our human nature that we think it (HD) will only happen to other people's dogs. I really don't know but as you know it is frustrating to see people who should know better still not do everything possibly to ensure good hips...
