An entire thread with a link to Unofficial Sieger Show Results (referencing the 2006 United Schutzhund Clubs of America Sieger Show) seems to have disappeared. The web site owner invests $$ in providing from what I can tell, is the most complete unofficial information available on the internet in almost real time. And based on traffic statistics through that web site, it sure seems that there is a lot of interest in this unofficial information, which from the outset was provided based on internet demand/interest in this particular information. Yes - the owner of this web site does sell stuff. Puppies, Dogs, training, etc. etc. just like most web sites sell stuff. In my experience, web sites that contain ONLY "information" with no obvious "advertising" are selling some other agenda which isn't pure "information" either - something, even if it's an "agenda" is typically being sold. I still don't feel I've gotten a complete answer. Where does "information" end and "promotion and advertising" begin? If information was presented on a kennel web site about how to eliminate HD in GSD's forever (big hypothetical to illustrate my point), would a link to that information be deleted purely because that site also advertises puppies for sale? How does that level of moderation serve the GSD community at large? I'm just trying to understand all this - where it begins and ends, and the true purpose. Respectfully, DTW

I don't know of any of us who would've deleted that. Anywho, if the link is provided and the intent is for information, then it would be allowed. If the link goes directly to the information, then it's allowed. BUT if we get the impression that the link is only provided for ulterior motives of promotion other than information then it would be removed. We basically have to look at every link posted.

Just google Mittelwest and all that information will be available. The URL is not needed.

Thanks vomlandholz for the clarification. Blitzen, your post made me smile (which I always appreciate!!). If it's OK to give instructions for how to find exactly what someone is looking for via a google search, why not just make it more convenient for all and provide the link? I guess for every rule, there are 10 ways around it. ;)

I don't see what the problem is with what is now being done with this site. I for one am fairly new to this sight and did'nt quite understand the purpose of the forum was. Alot of bashing and answers that were not very nice.I came to this site for information.I see it as a good change. Although generally people dont like change. You know what they say those that protest too much......!I beleive there is a place to advertise on this sight and its not in the forum. If you have a grudge with someone then take that up on your own.Although some of it was interesting reading lol. Keep up the good work and I will continue to visit this sight!

DTW, the way I understand it, it's against the TOS to list the URL of a site where items are offered for sale or a specific kennel or dog is being promoted. If there is a URL that goes directly to the show results without the need to navigate through the kennel information, then I believe it would be allowed to stand on the board. This TOS is a pretty much boiler plate on the majority of interent lists.

Why was the title of (moderator) removed from the moderators name? Mel

by k9chess on 09 May 2006 - 17:05

Because they do not want you to know who they are. You guys are being babysat and watched like a bunch of kids. They take off what they want and leave on the site what they want. They need to leave the site alone and let it be what it is.. Sandra
