Preston, I am also glad to see personal attacks gone. That was the biggest issue with this site. The problem is that people are now afraid to post a website address out of fear of it being deleted, even if it's only to information or to help someone find the location of a certain dog. Oli, and the moderators do work hard on this site, I was only giving suggestions to lighten up on the url's that by the TOS are allowable. You can also no longer talk openly in the forums of a dog that someone wants info on. Those are the two points that I have brought up that don't seem right. I also said in my last post that I wasn't trying to upset anyone and again apologize if it came out that way. Jeff

Since this is supposed to be for the purpose of information exchange, does that mean that not even links pertaining certain information can be added? ie, someone asking for injections inducing heat as in a recent post, or supplements, training aids, and whatever else? There have been discussions about progresterone testing in the past for example. Some people suggested sites that will help. Such resources will therefore no longer be available through this board? Same goes for quoting test excerpts from other sites. Yes? No?

Informational URL's are allowed, just as long as the URL isn't advertising anything, any kennel, or any person. :) If these quotes and text excerpts are available online, you can certainly quote from them, just be sure you list the URL link and that it was taken as an excerpt from that URL, so that proper credit is given, and Oli doesn't get accused of violating copyright law by posting those items. If there is a COPYRIGHT, you must get permission from it's owner before posting. If you do not have permission, you can always just post the link to the website. :) Hope that helps! From the TOS: "No press releases, newsletters, web pages, or copyrighted content may be inserted into pedigreedatabase.com without the copyrighted owners consent. Paragraphs may be used if the content is publicly available on the internet. All other forms of inserted content from press releases, newsletters, web pages, or any other copyrighted content placed into messages will be removed without exception. A link to the content is acceptable and appropriate."

I would love to see an example of a web link that contains "information" but NO advertising of any kind whatsoever. Heck, even "information" could be contrued as "promotion" of a particular point of view. I really would appreciate some examples of "acceptable information only" links... Thanks, DTW

This is the reason why I do and will not use this site any longer. The rules are being made up as they go along. This site is suppose to help and give advice to those who are seeking information. Now everyone has to be careful what you say, do and put on the this site, and their are a lot of people confused about what they can do and not do, say and not say. It is all a bunch of crap!!!!! We are all adults and should be treated as such, not everything you say has to be WATCHED. And Franlkly I do not see anything wrong with putting a web link on a thread or a name of a good dog, everybody has the right to make up their own mind what is good and what is not. This is their way of controlling what is said on this site. I'm sure this will be deleted soon!!!!!!! Sandra...

Nope, you didn't bash anyone so no it won't be deleted. We asked for clarification on links from Oli, here is his response: That TOS is to allow us to remove clearly promotional drops. Someone truly trying to find someone/kennel should be able to seek help in the forum. But sometimes, you will see posts where its clearly someone asking for himself. So just use your judgement if the person requesting the information is valid or not. This TOS is also for the fact that not everybody want their personal information posted online. So URLs that look like valid answers are OK.

I don't mind seeing less of the obvious advertising on the message board. Especially the true ads. Of course there have been some "messages" posted on the ad sections also. It can be difficult to answer some questions that need a url if the person asking does not have an email address though. A legitimate question about if there is a breeder or club in a specific area does often need a url as part of the answer. Would those instances be allowed? Thanks for all the good work done here.

According to Oli's rule yes for information only. If you were to post xyz's dog is the greatest gsd ever and here's their link, then that's promoting. If someone is looking for the kennel site, then ok to post it since they're trying to contact them.

Thanks. That explanation helps.

Many times a google search will yield what you are looking for. I think all kennels with URL's can be found that way. You can also google specific dogs and identify the sites where they are listed.
