Hi Fantom, this is our other dog's pedigree, the new pup will have the same type.

I've been on this board since just before I got my first registered GSD, and I've never heard of the DHS. I am familiar with the F.C.I. and know it's a legitimate organization, but didn't realize a dog could be registered with them, rather than an official breed club.
Can dogs be dual registered with both the SV and the DHS?
Somehow I get the feeling the requirements for DHS registration are different, and not as strict as for SV registration. Why would someone want to go this route, rather than registering with the SV?

Sunny, I've only vaguely heard of it; my thinking was that its yet another of those silly little registries that came into existence because they attract owners, who for whatever reasons, have dogs they can't register with the national kennel club of their country. I doubt they are much use for getting 'recognised' papers on any dog, or validating litters they produce, or allowing them onto the formal Show circuit. I could be wrong, perhaps those people running or promoting this organisation would like to come on here and tell us ?

Hukka - am talking 'small' in terms of numbers / take - up. You can cover all the breeds in the world (and Designer non-Breeds) but it does not make you a large / relevant organisation, if you can only attract a small number of (purebred ) dogs from each of them; and it depends what you are offering.
Rightly or wrongly, the national clubs still have it sown up.
MOST of the additional / newer Registries take 'all-breed' membership - for precisely that reason.
