Seriously though, a dog is a dog. I think he goes alot further than most in explaining to the dog owner about pack psychology. A dog is a pack animal and he has to know how to "fit into the pack". It's rather simple to understand when he explains it.

So true, unitl you Alpha roll a REAL ALPHA DOG who wants to be boss and you have no clue on how to really roll that dog without getting bite, you also have no experiance in reading a dogs body language. I think it is very possible that with his insights, he is keeping the puppy buyers from returning alot of teen dogs to the shelter.

He does make it clear not to try the alpha role yourself and that it is for experienced trainers only. His big plus though is that he trains the owners as much or more than he trains the dogs. That's usually the problem with typical pet owners - the owner. People let their dog's run all over them, screaming at their dog like it's a child or just generally trying to treat the animal like it is human. I think he promotes an amiable image for the dog trainer and has at the very least pointed a good number of average pet dog owners in the right direction. If the average pet owner were to follow his advice from puppyhood on they would be better off than the average pet owner that did not and did not understand pack psychology. I like him, he seems like a nice guy from what I know of him on TV and I think he represents "dog people" well.
