Aww poor girl, my prayers are with you. Hows she doing today?

by eichenluft on 18 April 2007 - 06:04

Goat's milk is indeed high in fat, protein - and great for puppies, but most adult dogs (and adult people) are lactose-intolerant - milk will probably make her feel worse, and probably give her diarrhea and/or worse absorption problems. Avoid milk... molly

Thanks Molly, that's why I put a ? at the end. I wasn't sure. I know cheese is used to training but wasn't sure about the milk.

Yogurt or cottage cheese, instead of milk for adults. Try some of the high calorie pastes they have out for sick or dogs who wont eat. Just a small spoonfull has hundreds of calories. I added this to my bitches food when she came from Germany underweight and wouldn't eat.

She is really bad today... When I gave her meds yesterday it seemed like it was painful for her to have me tilt her head up. The doc is checking with the internist that has been consulting on her case to see what he thinks of taking her to UCD. When this first all started we thought cancer and even though we haven't gotten back any solid proof... She is just so weak today she can barely stand to get a drink or walk across the room, this is just killing me but I think it might be time to let her go.

Yes that is too bad. I was shooting for a miracle myself. Thats really un-nerving that the vets have no idea what the problem is. After all of those tests, you would think someone would know something. This is what makes me reluctent to seek a vets advice. Never have I had one tell me something I didn't already expect or know myself. Whenever I have a question, I usually get an "I'm not sure but this broad spectrum antibiotic should clear it up, whatever it is." I'm like...you went to all those years of college to tell me that?! Very irritating.

I too have been following her story and praying for the best. I wish I had some special wise words, but I don't. I just want you to know I, like so many others are pulling for you & Annika.

Hang in there, there's lots and lots of us praying for Annika and you. Expect the best. I feel your pain and if I could take this bullet for you, I would. I really don't know what else to say.
