Darlene--if I may, Thank God there are people who try---It's a good sign she's doing better.

steroids can be a miracle-worker. I hope they continue to make her feel better and perhaps correct the problem or give her much more time with you to be comfortable and happy. molly

Thank you all! Molly, we are thinking this has to be an immune-mediated disease making it steroid responsive, sure hope we are right!!! The dang antibiotics she was on didn't touch the fever, go figure. And as my trainer loves to tell me, leave to a show line to make it as stressful and difficult as possible, LOL!!! I went to see Miss A-Dog yesterday evening and she was doing AWESOME, temp normal for 24 hours and she ate all the tracking food I brought her. Poor kid would have eaten more if I had it. She was dragging me around the grounds of the clinic, never been so happy to have her pulling on the leash, LOL. She still looks as though she is an old and feeble dog due to the muscle/fat loss on her head and along her spine and is very weak in her back end but hopefully with good nutrtion and a normal temp we can slowly overcome that. She was even doing her "Mom let's do something" whine at me when I was talking with the doc. I spoke with the vet at 8AM today and he switched her to oral steroids at 6AM, temp still normal and she ate her baby food well. They are slowly weaning her off the IV fluids(she has been on them for 8 days) and I get to bring her home this evening!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I spoke with the doc yesterday at great length about her dosage of ABx being strong enough, with all the docs in on this(neuro, interns, radiologists and general practioners)we came to the conclusion that yes her dosage was high enough to knock out any infection and she is on such a broad spectrum of ABx that we are covering all the bases. We will redo her x-ray at some point to check the lesion and see if there are any changes but at this point everyone is stumped as to a cause. I have been crying all week as this week was a real scary one for us, and I know we are not out of the woods, but now I can't stop crying with relief. Tim and I have had a really rough 8 months and we need her to pull through this for so, so many reasons. We are just thrilled that she is improving everyday and pray that she continues to do so.
