this is the most dramatic difference of "posing" I have seen. #2 looks like a decent ASL, #3 looks like a GSL. the rest, of course, look like the shitz, with the banana back a WTF.
and just for the record, I was only an amateur handler, swimming around in the shallow end of the pool.

The article, basically about breeding for pigment and what using a sable with black and brown dogs does. It is almost entirely a scientific article which does not in my opinion really deal with the issue of the prejudice against sables. save for a sentence of two of vague statements, about why there is a prejudice against sables, which basically is that many people think that they are examples of washed out pigment which the author disputes. In the introduction, the author states that it is her or his goal to make the readers of it into sable fans. It is really aimed at breeders. Later on the author notes that working lines people do not have a prejudice against sables since they have seen that sables do not lose points based on their pigment in a schutzhund IGP trial as they would in the show ring and hence they are not adverse to having such dogs. Very true. And she notes that many believethat temperament goes along with the sable pigment, also very true.
It is an interesting article, mainly in the part that deals with what is a sable vis a vis pigment and what effects it has in using such dogs in a breeding program. Lots of interesting photographs and she gives the example of her own her own female Ursa von Arlett.
But at the end of the day, despite the author's avowed purpose of creating sable fans, the article makes a pretty weak argument. And, as the saying goes, the proof is in the pudding and Margit very, very, rarely uses sable dogs. And, when she judges and I have been at many shows where she has, including the German Sieger Show and two US Sieger shows, she does not , except in one or two instances, place sables anywhere but in back. And, she did not support her boyfriend's effort to put Timo up for Sieger. But, if you are a breeder, it makes interesting reading.

Kloss, I too thought she judiciously avoided the subject of 'who' & 'why' the leading lights in the SV chose to adopt the prejudice. She ought to be a politician ! And I too have noticed she's brought far less 'sable to the table' in recent times. BUT she used to have much more of a reputation for actually producing good Sable stock, at least with breeders over here, a few years ago.
