Hey Wildbill,
That is very sad, hard to say what circumstances those horses were in!
I can tell you from personal experience, they are very delicate! Different hay, feed, water can all be a contributing factor!
A few years ago, I noticed my horses in the corrals did not eat their Alfalfa hay that night, turns out it had blister Beatles in it!
I took my horses right away to the clinic, miraculously they all lived.
Other peoples horses that also got the same load of hay did not have such good luck!!
They are amazing animals!

Personally, I've only been on a horse once in my life and it was a very old trail horse. They scare me. I don't like to sit on anything that moves, has a brain and makes decisions. I have hangups. They are beautiful though.
I've ridden motorcycles at 240Km/h, but just can't force myself to get on a horse again.
I'm obviously missing out on something, but I'm ok with that.

I am more afraid of the motorcycle thing, hahahaha! I do love the speed thing!
A few of my motorcycle friends had some horrific wreaks!
But, I too have my share of many scars that were from horse wreaks! LOL!
