Agar, thank you for the encouragement, I don't really care if he excels, just want him to be happy and he seems to enjoy everything I do with him.  My thing is the travel, if it's something he'll be able to do I wouldn't mind but this will take a big chunk of my weekends and in order to stick with it I'd probably commit as much as possible.  There are other things he enjoys that are much more local, heck, even just going for long walks.  We've done LOTS of walking as I've been off work for the last month (good for the dog bad for the pocket LOL).  He's such a happy guy and I just want to make sure I can expend some of his energy in constructive ways, especially thru puppyhood.  Anyway, thanks again, I'm leaning towards sticking with it.

Egsd,

That just goes to show how much I know about pedigrees, I was told he was from working lines.  Oh well, he's mine and I love him no matter what the papers say.  But thank you for pointing it out, I won't make that mistake again.  Maybe while I'm off work I'll see what I can learn about pedigrees, put MY energy to constructive use.

Thanks, Cindi

Cindi,

Get him on a raw diet, since he is so large a raw diet will strenthen his ligaments and muscles and grow him naturally slow. This will all help your boy!

Thanks Egsd. What are the best resources for raw diet info?  A couple of trainers where we do OB do raw diets so maybe they could help also, I'll ask.  What changes can I expect if I change him to raw.  I know some of the benefits but are there any drawbacks?

Thanks,

Cindi

Hi Cindy,

It is so important... look at any serious breeder or any serious enthusiast...99% feed raw or some sort of raw. You have to switch properly, there are few ways of doing so.. see what the people in your area do. If you come to a dead end, I will give you my number and we can discuss it more,If you need some guidance. It is not that expensive, If your resourceful...There is a good book that is very easy to read by Kim Schultz....Natural Nutrition for dogs and cats...you'll love this little book
