I found many animals left in houses after closings when I was a Realtor. More cats than dogs. Once, 2 GORGEOUS, expensive Himalayans. I was stuck with those for months before I found them a home.

This dog was left behind to starve by a family that moved. Luckily, he fell into the right hands, and the new owner was able to get the papers from the breeder. It's one of the best 'rescue' endings I've ever hear of!  (Not my type of GSD, but that's beside the point.... Regular Smile )

All the titles he's racked up have, of course, been with the new owner, Morris Bartucci, who is also a pro handler. (He runs the kennel that used to belong to the late Leo Bellino.)

Yes, people definitely suck!  I would take my dog over most people any day.

Nope. I do not understand people. I sometimes wonder if I'm the only person who considers their animals family. I get VERY attached to animals, VERY quickly. It kills me if I pick up a stray and have to turn it over to the HS (thankfully they've all made their ways to their owners on the first day), especially after volunteering there and seeing the horrible ways things are run. Ugh!

Jen, I'm shocked that those cats would be left behind. I'm surprised that their owners did not sell them to the highest bidder ... they could make some big bucks off of cats like that, and that is something that "caliber" of human is not likely to overlook. :( Glad you found them homes!

SS - that is awful. Very glad he got a better owner! :)

Me too, Crazee :) I never had a lot of friends in school, and especially during the summertimes, my friends were my pets. Particularly after my parents split, and I lived with my dad... he was working a lot back then, so often times I was home alone with my Dallas. Miss that dog!

The sellers knew I'd take them. Bastards. That's why they did it. They knew I'd go in there just before heading to the title company for the closing and find the cats still there and take them home. Over the months I had the listing, I'd gotten to know the cats well and they knew I'd take them home and wouldn't dump them at animal control. They took advantage of me being a sucker. They were so gorgeous, I loved them. I would've kept them, but the resident Queen Bitch at my house (the other one) wouldn't hear of another female cat and the two were too bonded for me to just keep the male . I'd wanted a Himalayan my whole life, lol. Oh well. Got them a great home together with a couple whose lives literally revolve around their animals. Happy ending but boy was I pissed. You should've heard that conversation when I called them up on my way to closing........people who think Realtors make too much money have no idea the things we end up doing, lol. I can't tell you how many times I've taken dogs home because they were badly behaved and screwing up showings, lol. But that was my choice and temporary- to have someone abandon their ELDERLY animals (these cats were over 15yrs old) because they knew I'd take them makes me sick.

Thank you for stepping up and helping dogs that have had bad human experiences out.  I wish someone had stepped up here to help this poor dog out.  Last I heard, this evil *&$@# was going to get another puppy.  I still say we need a national database for convicted animal abusers that veterinarians, animal rescues, human societies, and breeders, etc. could check before placing a dog........My veterinarian friends is a collegue of one of the people involved in the necropsy and the collegue is still shook.

The babies.... <3 and Matlin the deaf boxer, and Jethro the coonhound

Scarlet, the pretty, sweet pit who started this thread. ***I did not take this pic***

Magnolia, the Maltese, a puppy mill survivor. ***I also did not take this pic***

Not pictured is Zsa Zsa, the French Bulldog who is in her forever home now. :)

It was a really good group of dogs. I felt so bad for the pit, she must've had bad experiences with kennels, because as soon as she saw it and was put in, she totally shut down. I felt like an ass. Oh and that boxer is incredibly sweet and happy, but also an excitable pee'r... I got point blank super soakered. :\

Oh, and all of these dogs pictured are adoptable through Hands, Hearts and Paws rescue in Omaha, NE. ;)
