Wear the sneakers. Who cares if they are boring. I'm so excited for you. I hope you can cram his little butt in the soft side carrier and have him there at your feet. Better buy several pairs of ear plugs for you, your son and surrounding passengers. If he complains like Ziggy did, it's going to be a long, loud trip. Ziggy didn't like the car and we tried several short trips with him to try and get him used to it but to no avail. We left Steph's with him howling like we were killing him and he was sitting in my husband's lap!!. He kept it up for about an hour and then only did it for short periods after that. I'd say after 3 hours he was resigned to his fate and even was happy to climb back in after his potty breaks. When we stayed at the motel that night, we tried to put him in it for the night. BIG mistake. The howling started up again. Guess who got to sleep with us at the motels. LOL Best of luck! Can't wait to hear about your trip and visit with Steph & Steve.

Best of luck, Bee - hope the trip goes well, and he is everything you hope and more.
And well done for taking in one of the 'unlucky' ones & to you & Steph for changing
him and his siblings and mothers fortunes.

Did you check to see if they sell shipping crates at the airport air cargo office? They used to, but they are more expensive. They can refuse a dog in a crate that is too small for the puppy to stand up straight and turn around. It depends on who is doing the evaluating.

Blitzen: I asked about them in LGA, NY ... but not Missoula, MT... ? It says it is an International Airport but so is Bradley in Hartford .... huge difference compared to LGA or JFK. However, at this point being economical is not my main priority, as preventing a catastrophy in front of my son at the check-in is a worthy expense for me.
So, you think I should just assume we are fine, and then if someone gives me a hard time ... I buy the crate right on the spot? ... Maybe Steph knows if Missoula has crates at the airport for sale? The United representaive on the phone really didn't want to tell me much, like if the small plane could even take live animal shipping crates... never really got answered. She kept saying I'd be "fine!"
(When I do get home, I can hold a raffle or something as fundraiser! Brand new airline approved or slightly used!

Sorry guys had a busy day yesterday spay/neuter clinic where I volunteer...and I am leaving in a few minutes for a round trip to Bozeman, MT, 4 hr one way to pick up a solid black Male, GORGEOUS dog...
Better pics when he gets here...
....anyhow the pups here are doing fine, only 3 of Reese's pups waiting to be picked up. All the others are gone...these will all go by Saturday!!!! YEH!!!!! But now working on Maggie's pups...4 spoken for for sure....
Regarding the shoes, sneakers are probably easier to clean of the doggy poo...This is NOT a fashion place, VERY LAID BACK....Moccasins, would be comfy..
Regarding the crate, I have one here we can use if needed...did you get the soft sided taller one??? This one should work great though... Beau is a quiet dog, shouldn't anticipate any screaming like Debi Sue's puppy, he was a talker for sure...they do sell them at the airport, usually around a $100 bucks...but I have one that would work...I think the soft side would be the best. That way you can keep better track of him...Do NOT bother shipping a crate out...we will figure something out. There is no sales tax here in MT either, so saves a bit maybe...lol
Missoula is a TINY ho-dunk airport...no huge planes land here, cannot get a 700 crate in the cargo doors of the planes that land here...
Well off to do another transport run...take care guys and gals, back later today!!!! Steph

If you are flying out of Missoula, the Petsmart is 3 miles and 5 minutes away from the airport :-)

LOL, let's hope Beau is quiet...that's what you said about Ziggy, Steph...that he never did that with you and Steve in the car. I think Ziggy protested because he thought he was being puppy-napped. Three strangers show up and carry him away from all he knows, his mommy, his siblings, his people. Poor thing. He is still a talker and will on occassion howl when he is not getting his way. Part mountain goat too I think...can't keep him off the patio furniture. Can't wait to hear of your adventure beetree!
