Judy P

by Judy P on 05 October 2011 - 18:10

Let's see - right now I cannot walk, cannot drive, my husband works 40+ hours a week and it is hunting season.  Of course I spend 90% plus of my time with my dogs.  They know when I am hurting, one lets me know when my blood sugar drops to low and they all understand me when I talk to them.

I am the same!  I get up with my husband between 4:30 and 5:00 to spent time with the four babies before I go to work.  I leave at 8:00 and I always am pushing it to the last minute so I can have just a few more minutes to sepnd with them and my husband.  We are lucky that we both share the love of our four GSD's.  I love the fact that every day when I come home, no matter if I'm early or late they all want to climb in my lap before I get out of the car to give me kisses, including my husband.  We generally don't eat dinner until 9 or 10 because we are playing with the babies and we never get to bed before midnight.

I always have and always will feel like I have the perfect life!  I wouldn't change it for the world, and anyone who asks me if the dogs are really worth it.  I smile and say yes, all the while thinking they just don't get it!!!

Great stories, glad to know if I'm crazy I won't be the only one on that particular psych ward.  I kept thinking last night how exhausting it must be to be our dogs.  They never fully sleep, I'm sure the ones in their crate do but the ones out all the time don't bc I don't care how long they have been asleep you let your foot hit the floor they are up.  Then we expect them to work on top of it.  I'm very glad they haven't' formed a union. Mine follow me into the bathroom too, every once in a while I get the door shut before their nose goes through the door but then they just pop the door open anyway I figured they are afraid the big bad toilet monster is going to get me and they would feel like they had neglected their duty.  I have to crate mine when I shower or they do try and get it, that's always a nice sight when you turn around and there sits your dog looking at you! I also completely agree that they are much more trainable than a husband, I don't know how many times I've told my husband to kennel up and he has yet to get in a damn kennel, and you poor men are screwed us women are not trainable at all! LOL

4. I'm sitting on the couch and I really have to pee and I find myself holding it in bc the dog is sleeping so well and I know as soon as my foot hits the floor she will be wide awake to follow me to the ends of the earth. and she must be tired

DUDE!!!!!!  That right there!  I have done that a many of times and when I can't hold it anymore and try to sneak he gets up and I drop a F bomb.  Now he's stuck to me like glue.  I have let stuff on my stove burn cause I didn't want to get up and have my personal body guard follow me.  Sooooo annoying!!!!

LOL Ace, and for a guy to admit it !!! have to admit I drop the same bomb sometimes bc I try everything to try and "sneak" past them, it's harder than trying to sneak in your house after curfew when you were a teenager!!!

Also guilty...and I dont see anything wrong with it! Every morning I squeeze in a few extra minutes with them before work and never fails- I am always 5 minutes late. Miss them all day while at work...find myself staring out the window daydreaming of what we would be doing if I was home LOL. As soon as I get home I change and then it is all about the dogs. If I manage to get supper in me at all it isnt until usually 9:00...after I know they are all good and tired.

There has been so many times I have woken up at 3am needing to pee....but not wanting to disturb the dogs. I have given up on trying to sneak...and long ago gave up on trynig to pee in peace without 4 noses thinking I need help.  LOL they drive me nuts but I wouldnt have it any other way!

The task for the day was vacuum the living room with 2 gsds who were siding with the 2yr old daughter who was armed with crayons and not afraid to use them. I wisely decided I was radically out matched and waived the white flag! LOL

I have some fessing up to do too.  Of course, Drake is my focus because it's just the two of us, so we're always together.  When I was in my apartment, he ALWAYS found a doorway to sprawl out.  If he was asleep, I found myself carefully stepping over him, even when I was carrying something heavy!  I scolded myself on occasion and would make him move, but soon go back to quietly stepping over him.  Now that I've moved into my house, as soon as I get my keys, he's racing me to the door.  I have a full flight of stairs from my livingroom to the driveway and I've been allowing him to speed down ahead of me!

The funny thing is, if I give him a command to "move" or "wait", he gladly obeys!  DUH, it's not the dog .

I tried whimpering and wagging my tail when my husband came home; didn't seem to have the same happy effect on him as when his dog whimpers and wags  mail
