Vom Echo Wald is located in the Shadow of the Olympic Mountains in Washington state. We often take advantage of the exceptional resources here for hiking and trails with the dogs.

In 1959, my sister had a Top Ten Dog in the Nation. Since then,passion and devotion to the Breed has been life long. We are dedicated to the vision and founder of the breed, Max Von Stephanitz who said 'Take this trouble for me: Make sure my shepherd dog remains a working dog, for I have struggled all my life for that aim."

Through the years we have worked with East, West and American bred dogs, and our ultimate choice always returns to West German Shepherds. They have been bred to not only exhibit gorgeous conformation, but also are in the ranks of Top Working dogs world wide. Their temperament is exceptional. Living in a home, as companions, working in all phases of activity from Police work, Guide dogs, Search and Rescue, they have won a reputation of excellence. Great care is taken to produce sound hips, and physical well being.
Our dogs are our companions, and we have been very serious in our choices of sound backgrounds for intelligence, health, mental stability, work, or family protection. Occasionally we produce a litter, that we feel will continue all these aspects of the breed.
