If he is found guilty, and sentenced, I wouldn't be suprised to see at least a year ban, maybe more handed down by the NFL in addition to any jail time he recieves, and after he's paid the "time" for doing the crime, I'd say he should be allowed to play football again. The only problem is, I highly doubt any team will really want to touch a QB with his past (if found guilty of this in addition to the other things), that spent the prime of his career in jail or suspended, and he never really showed anything more than flashes before. Can't say I'd really blame them either.

I would venture to guess that it is pounded into every players head from day 1 that you can be banished for life involving gambling.

zdog, you keep attacking Vick's credentials as an NFL quarterback, I'm not sure why. Last year he was ranked about 21st as a passer, but he was the number 1 rushing quarterback with over 1,000 yards. He was the number 1 overall rusher (that includes all offensive backs) per attempt with an average of 8.45 yards in 123 attempts. He accounted for just over 3,400 total yards.
Your words, "I think the Vick experiment is dying (been dead for 2 years in my eyes)." What more do you expect of a young quarterback? Are you and the Don taking hits off the same blunt?
Vick may be a jerk, but he's a very talented jerk.

spooky: I just read this thread, and way above, you asked Don Corleone if he and I are "one". I am tickled pink that you think I know as much as he does about football, and I am tickled about the fact that I am on your mind.
Two things spooky:
First: I could care less about football. If you root for a sports player or a sports team, all you really are rooting for is laundry. If you root for Vick or whoever, they may be playing for another team next week or next year, so you really are just rooting for the laundry they are wearing. It's not like very many players actually grew up in the city that they are playing for, so why does anybody root for a player, or for that matter, a team. Just rooting for laundry, really. I could see rooting for a high school team or an Olympic team, but nothing else. I used to root for Jim Thome of the Cleveland Indians, who now plays for a different ball team. I used to root for the Cleveland Browns, but they left and became the Baltimore Ravens (they have a "new" Browns team again, but how long will this one last?). The list goes on and on. I learned that, in major league sports, all you really are cheering for is laundry. I used to be a sports junky, especially basketball, but not anymore. Now, I could care less.
Second: Stop tickling me

I said before he is talented, but what talent he brings, and where his actual production as a QB are, are too different things. Yeah, he has lots of rushing yards, no other QB can run like him, that isn't even a question. His effectiveness as a QB?? well I would take a much slower less "talented" Brady, Favre, Manning Palmer, Brees etc, over Vick anyday, especially on Sunday.

I doubt Vick's passing stats are what was hoped for when he was drafted out of college. Again, he won't be back, too much baggage. He's not that good.

The latest on the net is that Vick has until tomorrow to plead guilty to dog fighting, a misdemeanor in VA. He is waiting until he hears from the NFL regarding how that would affect his future as a player. If he doesn't plead, he will be charged with racketeering, a felony. If convicted, he could spend years in a secure environment playing with the prison team where his running ability will be an huge asset.

drfno, I can understand you being excited about being mentioned in the same sentence with the Don. It's quite a step up from your previous position as a racist, cracker.

I do not understand why Vick's credentials as a QB are an issue here. The fact of the matter is that he is accused of being a common dog fighter, no better than the worse hillbilly in Appalacia. If he could throw a football over the moon it would not change that fact.
