LOL! Oh, I'll have a search for that thread. I did a couple of shanks on the rotisserie the other night and devoured it with some roasted potatoes and asparagus. Yum.
I was making up for Giza getting my one lamb shank last month. <sigh> Forgot to take her dinner out. She got my lamb shank and wasn't about to share. She ate the meat. Left me the bone. I ate a can of chicken noodle soup. <<sigh>> Us poor moms!
Angusmom, you just pass that excess fish right on over here. I've got a girl that'll make short-work of any of your excess. LOL,

fionadunne, check out the thread "happy something or other", it is or was just above this one. there is a pic of angus and claire. she is 2 and he is 18 months. i love the rotisserie cuz then my husband does the cooking! apparently there is a genetic flaw in women that prevents them from successfully using them or a bbq. works for me. roasted potatoes and asparagus, yum indeed.

Oh, I have the perfect rotisserie oven. Never a problem with it.
You'll laugh your ass off when you read this...it's that Showtime Rotisserie Oven that you see on the late-night TV ads!
I've never had a better roasted chicken than what I get off that. Turkey as well as long as it's a smaller one. Prime rib is awesome as is lamb, shrimp and everything else I've cooked on it. Love my BBQ and I'm good at it, but this thing is awesome!
Thank you for the info...I'm off to find that thread before bedtime!

Is it the Ronco Rotisserie Oven? I laughed when Peter told me he'd ordered it, but everything we've ever cooked in it comes out fantastic! It's great year round, but really comes in handy during the summer when you don't feel like barbecuing but don't want to use the oven either.

my oldest stepson and his (late) wife got me a little grill (not expensive, they never had much $), but that little thing is one of the best appliances i own, bar none! grills carnitas so nicely and cleans like a dream. sometimes the funniest things work the best. we already have two rotisseries, but they're a pain in the butt. i'll have to stay up late for the commercials to see whats out there! lol. as for bbq's, this summer we bought a new built in w/rotissierie and its my husband's baby. again, works for me. i get to sit and drink beer and/or play with the dogs, a little stevie ray vaughn, sounds good to me....

sueincc:
Yep. That's the one. My mother bought one years ago and I asked her at that time why she wasted money buying this kind of "crap" off a TV ad. <<Me, ever the skeptic.>> I was so impressed with it I bought my own. It's been going good for 7 years now - still cooks without a flaw and cleans up in like a dream. Hers is probably about 10 years old. The timer knob broke off 2 years ago, so she uses a pliars to set it. We offered to buy her a new one but she refused to part with the one she has because it still works and cleans up great.
I agree re: cooking in the summer. The heat and humidity here is enough to choke a horse in the summer, yet the kitchen never even gets warm cooking with that on the counter. Ron Popiel really had something with this kitchen gadget, didn't he? I'm even more impressed with how quickly everything cooks to perfection.
Angusmom: No need to stay up late. Go to <gasp> Walmart.com. (I hate that store but they have a good price on these.) Search the site for Showtime Rotisserie Oven. You can order it from there for delivery. Regardless of which "size" you buy, you won't be disappointed. They deliver the same results. Rare, medium, medium-well for some meats, everything cooks very evenly and retains the moisture all the way through.
And, no "babysitting". Big plus!
