DKiah I hear ya loud and clear!! A friend picked up my pup (from Germany, direct flight) and she was told about the quarantine. She shipped her to me the next day (1 hour flight). She is 6+ months and I still have not gave her a rabies. I will, but not yet!! To young IMO. Nobody came to check and I have been bringing her out since 8 weeks.

I re read the link that p59teitel wrote...a $100,000 fine yikes... But I think my pup's well being is more important than anything. Still, one of the craziest laws I've seen. Hard to believe that a group of people actually sat around discussing that one and got paid for it!   >:-(

If you read the regulations, in Califonia, you can take the pup out if muzzled. I know they do check here, i have had them stop in to see the pup on the premises, and then return after quarantine to sign off.  They are very serious about it since the mad cow in Canada, prior to that, no big deal could just drop in their office and have it signed off,

Thanks 1doggie2! I will ask about the muzzle... Since my pup won't be ready for a rabies shot for quite awhile and I still can't bring him out for 30 days after...WOW that is a lot of time to miss out on...

OH!!! And I am going to pick him up on July 5th at 2:pm!!!! I am ridiculously excited :-))) I can't wait to get him home already. Time seems to be going by so slowly all of a sudden LOL

Before you go to the airport call and make sure they loaded the dog on the flight. I have flown pups from all over Europe into the US and only had one issue, because of customs and had to have the dog kenneled over night, I was gald it was not a pup this time. I learned was not worth it, I got a customs agent after that for all incoming. However, when I shiped my daughter a pup few months back from Texas to North Carlonia, the pilot declined to board the pup, stating weather conditions. The pup caught the next flight out. but for over 4 hours we had no idea where the pup was. i use to love going to the airport and really miss it, it was like Xmas all the time.

i had no idea even if the airline booked the flight and advised me everything, ok. the pilot could still make the call at the last minute.

Oh Man!

I'd hate not knowing where my pup was. The man that called to verify I was receiving the dog told me to call at 8 a.m. to make sure he was on the plane and that the flight is on time. I know i will want to get there a little early. Thanks!
