It sounds like in the "throw in the towel" phase then. So now what are you going to do with him?

Your Biggest Mistake might be in letting him go. Do you lke the dog? You have stated others have looked at him and do not know what to think? What others, experiance? Have you taken him to a sch club? Have you contacted a trainer? Do you feel your family might be at risk with him, while he is getting adjusted? You need to begin to take steps to protect him from harm while getting some assistance in training him/bonding with him. There are a lot of Head strong dogs with the proper guidence have become really great dogs. Everyone here is correct there is not enough information on the dog or your/his living conditions to give any real opinion to assist you or even comment on his training so far. Was he kennel raised and now you have placed him in your home? To many unanwsered questions. Before I would even consider letting him go, I would seek out help.
Don Corleone.Too many times we want to take our new toy for a test drive. So funny and so true. I love the look my male gives to people, "and you are?".

Feb 15, 2007 thread "price on dogs" may prove more illuminating on circumstances.

As mentioned by Yvette, it does sound like you are giving up, & the situation is deteriorating rapidly. I think your best bet would be to get with a a good schutzhund trainer ASAP, rather than continue to escalate the situation with the dog. Someone with a lot more experience needs to evaluate this dog for you. I don't think you are very sure what to do with him at this point, and the dog knows it. He could be a nice green dog or not. Perhaps if you were to post your location (city/state) someone might be able to refer you to some people who might be able to help. It is pretty much impossible to read a dog on a message board even if you provided videos.

He is new to you and you didnt raise him so he is unsure of you and I think now hes reading your upsetness with him...I bought a Korbelbach male at 22mos old with only obedience, nothng else, and I was very careful with just playing with him and use positive reinforcement only,,,when he ran the fence line, not need to raise your voice and scream at him,,,grab two balls on a rope and call him and throw a ball to the right show him the second ball and throw to left ....I assume a sch 1 dog has ball drive...and never use a water hose on a new 2 year old dog that you dont know well., Bear is so high drive ,that water hoses start his motor and thats what the water hose did....it excited him , and now you know his level of triggering.....its gonna take 6 mos to bond to him.....he's puzzled as the where and why he is there....feed him on the floor, you sitting with your hands for 30 days,,,,,,dont worry about training ,,,have fun with him and get him to trust you and yu trust him....Bear scared me for almost a year I live alone in the woods and he could have at anytime taken me down, but he is social , raised by a man with a four year old boy , but he wasnt mature yet at 22 mos old and he is large and powerful,,,but I didnot raise him nor do the obedience on him so I took it slow...Mr Ledda took him out of my pic up one day last year , pottied him , pulled his Kong out and put him thru paces that I stood with my mouth open...in awe....thats because Mr Ledda is the greatest and he knew Bears capabilities and he was dominant with him and he had a KONG,,,,,,any germans favorite work tool....good luck .....find you a Mr Ledda where you live.....

and before anyone fusses at me for no birth date and no ( ofa good )info I didnt put my dogs up here, someone else did and they didnt finish what they started...simply because I didnt know they were doing it....see my other thread and u know why.....someone can tell me how to fix it I will....later but I took that pic and its on my place and he is my big baby.....now....I had Clay Baylof come show me how to make him out when he would tug and not release or take a ball and not release and after a long time of trying , it worked for a little while,,,fingernail in the top of ear, but he got use to that and he is the hardest dog to get to drop it as he was taught,...and I use "Lo s It ! but I have to always have two toys to get him to drop it...or another tool that he wants....anyway so much for hard headed dogs...Hang in there Moose88
