GE, I saw a much worse one, where the pups were in a litter box with a bare wood floor and no bedding. It looked like mom's rear was still bloody from the delivery, and there was no puppy rail to keep the pups from being squashed. :(.
Here's the one with the guy's hand growing out ot the top of the dog's head:

Ya' know, I can't help saying, puppies are still cute, regardless! I'm hopeless. Some day you'll read about me in the paper, old lady found dead in house, authorities unable to retrieve body due to 750 GSDs still standing guard over mistress' body.....LOL! I 'm a sucker for a GSD puppy! jh

Personally, I find it not at all "disgusting". In the last photo link, the bitch and pups are clean. The damp areas on the newspapers appear not to be be blood--probably amnionic fluids. Has no one seen these conditions in the whelping box of a well cared for bitch and her newborn pups?
I would say that we should mind our own business and not publically criticize/ridicule those lacking in photographic and/or marketing skills.
Frankly, I want to barf when I visit some websites with inappropriate music and barking/singing/dancing dogs. I simply turn off the sound when I go to these sites and don't rush to post my distaste on the internet.
What of the many phoney sites which attempt to cover up reality (sugar coating) by posting photos of kids playing with pups in order to convey the false message that the pups are well socialized?
On other sites, we see dogs lounging on sofas/beds, having birthday parties, etc. This is often a marketing ploy for dogs that live most of their lives in crates and only see the light of day when they're allowed to relieve themselves twice daily.
Remember the saying about people who live in glass houses?

constructive criticism we can all learn from, I see the OP's point, and think it was not meant to be done with nastyness in mind.... However I have seen other poster who's FULL Intent was to "Smear" the advertiser.... a recent thread called "Christmas Puppies" comes to mind, but there have been many the like of that smear campaign... Sad.

"Showing a working line dog in a stacked position which excentuates their horrible structure is not the way to sell a working dog! Their body is not their strength!!! Try to present dogs, puppies, in ways that show off their strengths. "
For most working line dogs I know, their body IS their strength. Catch a few on a sleeve and see for yourself.

I saw the first one Sunsilver was talkng about and indeed the box looked dirty, it was much worse than the other one brought up here. I just don't understand why anywould post a shot of their dogs looking anything but their best when trying to advertise a litter, but I guess presentation is important to me. If I can't take the time to make my puppies/dogs clean and presentable, what does that say about me? Different strokes for different folks, I guess.

Come on you guys, lighten up. That hand is simply holding the dog by her collar. She's a real cutie, too. The pix with the dog on the car probably is someone else's idea of cute, probably meant to show the dog is agile or fearless or something. she isn't going to fall, but you can't see much of what the dog really looks like. Not everyone is an advertising genius. Not everyone knows or cares what a GSD is supposed to look like. Maybe when the ads aren't effective they'll figure it out.

I just caught this. Max's standard be damned, clearly the roaches and the slope backs have the upper hand, what the hell do the rest of us know
Laughable. If anything the WL's come closest to being the ideal...
