Don, what are the benefits of Rosin paper?  I will switch if I hear a good benefit over free newspaper.  I've just never heard of it.  We're going through a lot of paper right now since we have them in a temp kennel in our enclosed front porch right now at night and when we're not home.

It's a 4' roll of paper that is more absorbant and thicker than newspaper.  You can change the bedding in 1/4 of the time.  Newspaper sucks!  I have to triple layer it to even get half the absorbancy.

Thanks everyone!!!

Don, I think I will try the Rosin paper. I don't use too much of anything the first 2 weeks as mom is a super mom!!! But after that...whatever keeps those little paws clean as they jump up to greet you!!! LOL

If it works, I'll send you the cigs and beer Don....;)

im surrounded by pine trees , so at first i used pine needles that had dropped, no chemicals...butttt....i only used that in outside kennel when he was a little older...don't know bout tiny pups--pine needles may poke a eye are something, otherwise worked great cause all i had to do was rake it up and bag it.....if you have no pine trees they sell clean pine needles at garden stores for ground cover.

This is our first litter (Sorry folks, Goldens) that we used Cedar Chip shavings for (Normally newspapers). The cedar is a natural flea repelant, but NEVER have I had to vaccume this much, it is really, really messy. I have a whelping box, with a larger area fenced off with a large exercise pen (in the living room) and underneath the exercise pen area, we have tile, and I can tell you, the fences are gold wire bars, and that cedar goes EVERYWHERE. Puppies did fine on it, but we ran out of a whole BIG bag, I guess you could call it, in a week, and we switched back to the papers, but as the Don has mentioned, you do need to 3,4,5 even 6 layer the paper as to get coverage that wont leak through to the bottom of my box that is flexable plastic lined, for easy cleaning. It's hard to describe, I'll have to take a pic or something. We did find a LOT of Cedar shavings in the eyes, but what do you expect from rough housing puppies?
