Wow! There is a lot of useful information in this thread. Well I have been giving my dogs the ron vitamin C. I have been giving them Spring Valley 500mg Vitamin C and 400mg vitamin E. I changed today to the actual Ester C. Now this may be a stupid question but is Ester C supposed to reverse the effects of HD and/or improve the hips of the dog? For instance if a dog is xrayed and prelimed fair at 6 mos would giving ester C improve the hips to a rating of good at two years?

Thanks a lot for all of your time and help.

gimme10mins":    Tell me what it says on the bottle of Ester C   u have   what is it made of....???? I threw my bottle away and of course I have to order the natural vit C or go to the health food store...

Vitamin C natural has to be of a vegatable source :

Vitamin C will be the help your dog needs in his immune system along with a good vit e  and fish oils   omega 3 and 6 .  vit C alone , isnt all your dog needs....Just a pill wont either....do the natural vit c ,   and raw meats   raw veggies, like I explained......and you have to give a larger dosage than called for on the bottle     The vets that did this study   said to give the dog an increase in vit c....big dose....for a few days,,,if your dogs poop gets mushy,,,,,pull the vitamin c back until the poop goes back firm    step by step   do it grad......the body will discard C, but sometimes diahrea comes with too much C....

Tell me what the bottle says on the Ester C :

Yellow Rose:  I have been giving my pup Ester C too.  His prelims looked fine and he is now 20 months old and weighs 85lbs.  The above article mentioned a daily dose of 2000 mg.  What do you think is the correct daily dosage for my dog?

-Thanks!
