von symphoni,  read both of your posts... Sensible, well said, thought out, and Excellent Points !   Love "subjective"  :-)  How true it is!

Sunsilver 100% agreed as well.

Kalibeck.... hobby breeder,  would be my defenition of your description,  Someone who has passion for the breed and does what they can to do the best they can for the breed.  JMO   :-)

bun bun,  The trend thing I would have to agree should be included in my definition as well,  (sorry I forgot)  I know in order to get that VA, or V dog,  I would have to purchas an oversize,  I won't do it,  I think it's sad,  that the judges are placing "over standard dogs" higher in the placing than a dog who posesses "correct standards" .  again JM thoughts...  :-)

Echo,

As to some point I can agree with you, it does bug me too every so often, that dogs that are aparently not in the standart sizewise achieve high rankings. But to say it is nessecery to have an oversize in order to get an dog V rated, is plain simply not right. With the new head breedwarden, Mr. Mayer, we will see changes happening, it might take time but I am most certain, that it will happen. I believe we will allready see changes at the HZS in Braunschweig this year.

Kind Regards Ulli Dresbach

Ulli,  You absolutely correct I should not have phrased that in that way,  I appologize for that...  and I heard there were changes on the way... I heard the "new" guy would be putting things back the way they "should" be.  I look forward to that.  again sorry for making that statement so generalized,  Your 100% correct,  It is not always that way.

What's wrong with a labradoodle? First of all, it's just a mutt. It is not a proper breed. If you cross a lab with a poodle, you will get a lot of genetic variation in the litter. Some pups will resemble the lab parent, and some will favour the poodle. Not all will have that nice hypo-allergenic coat that the pubic wants. So, these undesireable offspring often wind up in the pound at the tender age of 1 or 2 days old.

If you breed  labradoodle to labradoodle, again, you will get lots of genetic variation, because it is NOT A TRUE BREED. Yet they are charging big, big bucks for these mutts, while similar mixed breed dogs in the pound are being euthanized every day.

Amysue, according to your definition, would that make someone who never titled a dog, let's their animals run lose and produces unplanned litters (and then sell them), couldn't tell you which lines compliment which lines and couldn't tell a structurally sound dog if it bit them in the ass, a back yard breeder?

spook101, there are a few of those around here aren't there...... And I've been blasted int he past for questioning some of them and not the one that will take immediate offence either.

by spook101 on 15 June 2007 - 16:06

Animules, very tactfully worded.

by amysue on 15 June 2007 - 17:06

To me that would fall under the irresponsible about breeding part or unknowledgable about their breed... so absolutely yes... I would.  Except for the titling... depending on one's breeding goals it may not be necessary to title.

by amysue on 15 June 2007 - 17:06

spook, I will also add, however, that knowing which lines compliment which may be a little too advanced for even responsible breeders and one would be limited to certain gene pools if that was an absolute necessity.  Basically, we learn by doing... but the responsible breeder will not make the mistake over and over again.

My dog prefers that backyard!  I think it has something to do with privacy.
