aluminum crates - Page 2

They look great. I bet they were a lot cheaper than the aluminum crates. They also seem to have more vents, which is very important here with our climate. We want to get a double one for a Dodge Dakota before the year is over. We have a fiberglass top on our truck and it never gets too hot in there. So I am very partial to fiberglass.

Did you get them through the authorized dealer in New Jersey? How long did you have to wait for them?  I did talk to him at the USA Sieger Show in CT.

where in New Jersey is he located? I thought it is a guy named Peter Weber somewhere in Illinois? We had talked to him about 2 years ago about a trailer, which we never ordered. Joe talked to the German representative at the Sieger Show in Danbury and got his card. We want to see if it is cheaper to import directly from the factory in Germany. Supposedly, you can save a lot of money by ordering several. We were thinking of going in with some other people.

Tiger (Chris), yes, I dealt with Roy from New Jersey.  I actually didn't have to wait for the crates.  I bought one at the Nationals in Nov and one at the Sieger Show in April.  My van is large, so I didn't have to wait for custom ordered crates.  The ones I bought were on display at the shows.  I just paid for the crates and loaded them into my van!

Silbersee (Chris), I know of a couple of people in Maryland that got together and ordered crates as a group.  I believe they said it was cheaper ordering several of them.  I don't remember how long it took to get them once they were ordered.  I think (not 100% sure) it takes 2 to 3 mos to get the crates.  They also dealt with Roy out of New Jersey.  Here's the link to his web site:

This may be a little late, but, we had printed off several pics of different types of aluminum crates, and then took the pictures and our SUV to a welder/fabricator. He measured our vehicle, then drew up some various designs, we modified them, and then had him build us a nice 3 dog box for our vehicle. Although it was custom made, he did measure other SUV type vehicles and a couple mini vans to ensure our unit would be able to slide into another vehicle if need be. Our 3 dog box cost us just a little over $900.00...and had plenty of special features added on. Basically we took ideas from all the various types of crates and added them all in together. This may be a route you may want to explore too!
