The latest I heard today from my friends is that the vets have so far ruled out tick borne(erlichiosis) stuff...still checking into infection, autoimmune stuff, lupus...but yes she is slow to get up and appears to have swollen joints...she is overnight tonite at the vets...so it sounds like an expensive wait and see...she is being given anti-inflammatories from what I understand..thanks for everyones advice, info and suggestions. I will be sure to pass it on.

Double check that they used the SNAP 4Dx test to rule out E.canis.  Some vets are still using the 3Dx test which isn't failproof when it comes to erlichia.  This test will also pick up anaplasma phagocytophilum, which also has symptoms like you described.
