Thank god you got rid of the science diet but you may have not done any better -- so many foods - so little time. You should add plain yogurt or ascidiopholus tablets daily to "settle" stomach and get the good bacteria growing. All of these foods have many many additives that dogs can react badly to -- too many preservatives. Until you settle things down, you might be better off with some chicken and rice - and don't let your vet talk you into something that he sells !!

Havoc - are you feeding Evo or the reg kibble??
Pumpkin works well....
FYI - mine had problems digesting the regular (not EVO) kibble as a pup and we had to move off it.

I had my dogs on Innova and they always had the runs. I kept them on it for awhile but it never stopped. I was told Innova can sometimes do that to some dogs so I switched to raw and it stopped right away.

havok I have some lenghthy experience with the Natura company.First of all do you have the pup on the puppy food OR the LARGE BREED puppy food?If he is on the Large Breed Puppy food then check the amount of food you are giving with the back of the bag where it gives an approximate amount to feed and go with the lower amount indicated first. You can do things that are previously suggested such as the pumpkin or bland WHITE rice although you should not have to.I have spoken to there nutritionist-owner and he does not beleive in digestive enzyme supplements(he beleives they would not resist the stomach acid) but does agree with and adds to the food pro-biotics and sometimes that in itself can cause a loose stool.I have tried there foods on a few GSD's with NO luck.I do agree that it is a wonderfull product but im not sure that it is the best for our breed. Please be very carefull if you are thinking of feeding the Evo as it is VERY HIGH in,calcium, ash, protein and fat and calories and is NOT recomended for large breed pups.Hope this helps clarify this a bit for you.

I've had to change foods quite a bit to find one that worked for my girl with the troubled tummy. Innova California Natural lamb and rice has been the only food that consistatly maintains a good stool and good skin.
As for changing foods, if you already started a diet, maintain the diet for at least several weeks to allow the dogs body to adjust. They don't tolerate diet changes and variety like we do. Adding probiotics will at best do nothing for acute diarrhea, more likely they will exacerbate and/or prolong a transition. Probiotics however can aid to maintaining a healthy digestive system and could be added slowly into a diet after you have successfully transitioned diets.
Lactobacillus and Acidophylus both resist stomach acids and digestive enzymes and proliferate at different stages of the digestive track.
