Fertilizer would sure emit a smell to mess with the nose...

Tracking was at a turf farm.

by Mystere on 11 June 2007 - 16:06
The field may have been mown just a day or two before and some competitors could clearly smell the fertilizer themselves. We had heavy rains later in the day and a deluge on Sunday. That may account for the numbers of high scores on Sunday, but there were scores in the 90s on Saturday, too. The odd thing is that most of the local dogs entered in the HOT track on that turf all the time, and they had trouble, too (even to failing the phase). As usually happens, there may be "legitimate excuses," but not everyone seemed to need them.

All the 2's and 1's passed. 19 of 24 3's passed. Quit the whinning and excuses. That is an average rate of failure at a big trial. There are always a few people that aren't prepared and a few that just had a bad morning.
I would have written a better post, but someone cleaned my keyboard and the letters are slippery.

Congratulations to all who participated with their dogs!
It is nice to see this program growing in our country, lets hope for more entries next year.

Those who have legitimate excuses always seem to be the ones who don't ever feel the need to voice them. Don: I think your post is perfect.

Day 1 had all the failures. 4 of the 6 failed in the first flight. Maybe I have a hearing problem but I don't hear any whining. You pay your money and take your chances.

Mystere, Thanks I knew you would have the scoop!

by Don Corleone on 11 June 2007 - 20:06
Where are my manners?
Congratulations to the competitors!
Realcold-----you may be right. Not a lot of whining, but excuses are running around. I guess if one of my breedings had a rough time, I would be there to defend and protect it like some are. I guess in a way, breeders are like mothers. They defend their children till death and never believe that they could ever do anything wrong. Gotta love the moms!

Don- Excuses are just that, excuses. One of my favourite sayings is "I go in trials to find out what lies I am telling myself".
