This is great--I love reading all the positive comments.  The last dog I had PTS was my 12 1/2 yr old.  The vet and his nurse were very kind, held me as I cried saying my goodbye.  A couple of weeks later they sent me a very nice card.

The breeder Ibought my male from; I usually send pics and updates about every 6 months.  If I have training, etc. questions I ask him and he is always very good about answering me.  I really appreciate him.

Don,

No offense taken. I was a little hestitant when she questioned us, and asked to keep in touch, which out of respect  for the breeder I sent her a quick e-mails. But at least she cares and has answered questions. promptly.

Sad that the time is gone when such common courtesies [such as a hand written note] were common place. It is nice to hear of the good experiences mentioned hear.Breeders and buyers a like should be responsible to each other and vis a vis vets and dog owners. It goes both ways. Thankfully to this day, I have never had to put one of my kids down. My heart truely goes out to all who have, and to those I have personal contact with, you know I am sincere. The day may come when I have too put one down, and I hope my vet and my friends will be compassionate and be there for me. On the other side of the coin, I had a bitch who had a litter with particularly big heads. Some of them needed vet's assistance to be delivered. Of course there was a bill [and  much smaller than it could have been] , but still I sent a handwritten thank you note and flowers because they were there for me and  because they care for my animals and myself. Our vets also have a tough job. How about sending them a nice handwritten note from time to time or when they are particularly there for us?
