Why is this an argument about which race gets killed more now? The start of this was about this black woman who fears her dogs life if she gets stopped by the police. Someone should have said something like this, imo what you should do is get one of those dog fences that covers the access to the front so the dog stays in the back(they are usually mesh or thick metal). If a cop stops you for normal things, the dog would have to break the barrier to get to him and he wold have to shoot around you. If you're really frightend, for extra protection get the dog a seatbelt collar/harness(most dog stores have them and i think walmart does too) and if you ever get stopped immediately take your phone out, record everything from how your dog is restrained to the entire encounter. Just drive safe and you shouldn't be stopped anyway. Although we are in two different parts of the country so we have different cops. What about her concern was cause for argument? "As a black woman"? Are you black and a woman? I am and i get her concern. We hear and see these horror stories about this kind of stuff, and come on, admit it, black people are not treated the same at stops as white people by SOME cops. I live not too far from Detroit. I've seen it. I've had it happen to me. Have to get out the car as they search for "drugs" they thought they smelled. I have never even seen any kind of drug in my life. I stay away from that kind of filth. Arguing about who gets killed more is ridiculous. A waste of time. White people are going to say white people, black people are going to say black people and it's going to go in an endless circle. Usually i ignore this kind of off topic stupidity but it is so off topic for such a stupid reason that it rubbed me the wrong way. Lets get back on the topic of how to keep our animals safe. Thnx

" If there are 2 blacks and 10 whites and 1 of each is killed irregardless of encounters what does that tell us statistically speaking?"

It tells us nothing as far as the chances of getting killed by the police goes.

"We hear and see these horror stories about this kind of stuff, and come on, admit it, black people are not treated the same at stops as white people by SOME cops."

Yes, we "hear" stories. There is also a potential flip side to the second part of that quote: maybe blacks treat cops differently than whites do. Isn't that the reason for the "talk?" To address the behavior which can get them shot.

"I live not too far from Detroit. I've seen it. I've had it happen to me. Have to get out the car as they search for "drugs" they thought they smelled."

White people don't get searched for drugs? Just because it happened to you doesn't mean that it ONLY happens to you.

May I suggest you move away from democratically controlled cities. In good ole republican controlled cities you have a much more equal chance of an inappropriate beat down. hahahaa.

PS, I did suggest the harness the post right below his, the poster was a man. :)~

There are a lot of poor white people out there. In fact, there are more poor whites than blacks. I wonder how they feel about the police. No one cares enough about them to ask. When violent crime rates are adjusted for poverty there isn't much difference between blacks and whites. Poor Hispanics actually are significantly less prone to violence than poor blacks or whites. Anyway, the point I'm getting at is that poor whites probably can tell the same types of stories that poor blacks do when it comes to the cops. They just don't have a lobby. It's also why poverty, and all the social ills that come with it, will never be addressed properly as long as it's seen as a black issue.

Booboo
See what I said about civilian monitoring?
We pushed the Police Commish to resignation. In NYC its becoming more and more difficult for police to carry out abusive behavior with impunity. As I said I can walk into my local precinct and demand the police being on city payroll do a professional job. Thats how it should be.

"officers in Houston were about 20 percent less likely to shoot if the suspects were black."

This confirms that racial discrimination exists in the police force!!

Further, why the police is 20% less likely to shoot the black? Are they willing to risk their lives because of the fear of repercussions? Or, isn't it more likely that, along with the fear of repercussions there was actually no real danger to their lives in those cases?

So, 20% shooting against the WHITES could ALSO have been avoided, had the police not been too trigger happy, or they could have been made more accountable??

Protect your dogs from these trigger happy policemen, even if they constitute only 1% of the entire force!! Your dogs deserve it !!!
